So it’s actually part one of a trilogy and there’s no publisher in place for the sequels? It’s like Molyneux gets off on disappointing players.
Masters of Albion comes out this year, and quite soon, on 22nd April, and seeks to give us a dose of Dungeon Keeper, Black & White and Fable all in one.
Honestly it sounds and looks great but no way am I buying an early access Molyneux game!
What’s the chance that Peter is lying about his goodbye like everything else he lies about?
He has to be one of the most over-rated game designers in the industry. For some reason whenever he has anything to say we all need to hear about, all despite a string of mediocre games.
I think his games were a touch above mediocre, myself. He’s the mind behind many beloved series; that’s got to count for something. Fable, Black & White, Dungeon Keeper, and Theme Park are pretty legendary names.
He genuinely did some quality stuff in the 1980s and 1990s. Populous (1989) and Powermonger (1990) were genre-defining, and in their era, were amongst the best games available on the Atari ST/Amiga.
He seemed to have a run of innovative classics - Theme Park and Dungeon Keeper were quality…
…and then at some point he just started promising things he couldn’t deliver. Black and White still turned out pretty good, despite the broken promises…
… then in the last handful of years, he’s worked hard to destroy his previous reputation by churning out overhyped shit.
