    I am mostly boycotting US software and services because I do not trust the companies to act in good faith anymore. I don’t care about the greater picture, or which effect it has - I want to have control over my data.

      I went to self hosting things when I started the boycott, and sailing the high seas. I stopped using my ISPs email because they use exchange, I know it is a little to the max but my new domain host offers unlimited email addresses with the package I got so why not drop the Apple hide my email service and use that instead? I get next to no spam, and if I do I can close an email address. I self host a pihole setup with unbound to make me less valuable to advertisers, I am looking at self hosting searXNG, and more. I use ad blockers/tracker blockers for YouTube, I have a gmail account for YouTube and that’s it. I am worthless to advertisers which is priceless to me.

      Oh and I use WireGuard so I get all these things away from my LAN as well.
