So as soon as one infected person makes it out of Africa and into Europe, America, Asia, Australia etc, we’ll be totally screwed because none of those continents have ever seen Ebola outbreaks. In the USA there has only been one person who had it and it was a doctor.
Yeah, its not looking good. But at least the effort is not zero. Already one American doctor got it apparently.
Probably not since the West has people in Africa helping with the outbreak, and did last time as well. Meaning experience and knowledge makes it back there. The only difference would be the invention of a vaccine before you could blink.
In Germany a US doctor is treated who got Ebola while treating patients (BBC News).
This appears to be a new doctor. Well, probably not a brand new one. But I was referring the previous big outbreak of Ebola before Covid. At the time, the news made it seem like a pandemic was possible. At that time there was a doctor from the US who got it. I recall that they were detecting it some time later in his eyeballs. It is a nasty virus.
Usually epidemic experts working in Africa for these kinds of outbreaks are not African.
The main pandemic expert in Spain, for instance, had a lot of experience in epidemics because he worked in Africa a bunch of years, including Ebola outbreaks.
Yeah, I understand. Ebola on the other hand doesn’t care if some fellow in a gown went to Princeton.
