    I remember seeing Craig T. Nelson doing an interview, talking about how he grew up poor.

    We were in public housing on food stamps. Did anyone help us? No.

    They think they’ve done it all by themselves without any help, it’s the “other people” who are “freeloaders”.

      It’s exactly the same with Hillbilly Elegy and JD Vance. He hates the same system that got him to where he is. He needs to believe that he was a special snowflake and that he succeeded through his own superiority.

      Exactly this. I have in-laws who used Medicaid to have multiple kids because they were so poor. Roll on ten years and they have a bit more money and constantly rage about all the ‘deatbeat mooches’ having kids via Medicaid.

      The lack of self-awareness is staggering.
