and also (as an arizona native and in multiple senses of the word “native”) the less you know about arizona, the better off your psyche would be. arizona is a microcosm of all the anglosphere’s colonialist, racist, sexist, homophobic, propagandist, misanthropist, christian fundamentalist, and most apartheid like place in the united states there is and it all happens under the radar because either phoenix or tucson get all the attention that there is to be had.
i do not exaggerate in sharing this (although i wish i were for its people’s sake) and every day i thank my luck that i have not had to set foot there in over 20 years.
