Their crime: handing out copies of an editorial, published in the journal Diabetes Care on April 29, sharply criticizing the Trump administration’s ongoing attacks on scientific research

Some questioned how handing out reprints of an editorial published in the ADA’s own journal, at the ADA’s own annual conference, could be construed as a violation of that code. The scientists were not disruptive or disorderly in their conduct, based on the videos posted by MedPage Today, although the fact that they were handing out reprints just before an NIH representative was scheduled to speak might be construed as a form of protest. But it could just as easily be argued that such actions fall under valid scientific dissemination and discussion, the conference’s stated objective.

This doesn’t make the ADA look good. I don’t know enough about them to understand their reasoning though.

As someone who’s 42 and has been a type 1 diabetic since I was 9. Fuck the ADA. When I was diagnosed my parents donated a lot to them. Then they both lost their jobs and insurance when I was 12, they asked the ADA for help with supplies like test strips and such, they didn’t even reply.

All you need to know is that if something is called the American [doctor stuff] Association it means that it’s an out-in-the-open cartel that exists to limit the supply of and increase the profit margins of whatever the word in the middle of their name is.

I don’t know enough about them to understand their reasoning though.

Spoiler: Guaranteed they’re a bunch of ultra privileged, ultra worthless “scientists” (mostly bros) who would rather support fascism than risk the slightest threat to their comfort. That’s just capitalism everywhere.

Do these people actually give a shit about fascism? Nope.

More like they are censoring to protect funding. Still cunts for doing so, that funding will die with this administration first chance it gets, all funding of anything good will.

I’m keeping my own shit list, because I anticipate a lot of hand wringing and ghost-written sob stories from leaders and elites describing their inner turmoil and why they had no choice but to kiss the ring in this era of open fascism in the US.

And I’ve already committed to hear them out and be even-handed. Some of our most inspirational stories are of covert resistance and sabotage by elites in fascist regimes risking it all. But I suspect most are simply cowards at best and collaborative ghouls at worst.

Either way, taking their public actions at face value is the correct choice for the time being.

Wow the headline completely misses the point. They weren’t ejected for distributing a journal. They were ejected for criticizing the pedo prez.

They were ejected for protesting the upcoming speaker. I don’t agree with it, but it wasn’t for criticizing Trump.
