2 panel comic
Panel 1: [View of the upper torso of a naked man looking outraged] Man: You were faking it?!
Panel 2: [Naked man sits in bed, his arms crossed, a disgruntled look on his face as he looks at the person in bed with him. A woman with black hair, black winged eyeliner, black lipstick, and a black lacy bra sits in the bed and stares back at the naked man. The headboard behind the two resembles the ropes of a wrestling ring. On the wall above them hangs a WWW title belt with a WWW poster and an Austin 3:16 on either side of the belt.]

my little joke, but pro wrestling1 is musical theatre for people “too macho” to enjoy musical theater. everyone enjoys a good live show.
also (and this is something we noticed working special ed) it has a remarkably warm and welcoming fanbase. especially to folk with disabilities. i can’t tell you how many students we had go through the special ed classrooms who found social homes there with wrestling. Like, there’s a law: I can’t tell you. but it was a lot. That one thing biases my attitudes positively toward the sport.
1compared to… i don’t know the word for it. but differentiating between sport wrestling and entertainment wrestling (two terms i just pulled out my ass) might be a better way to think about it. like, go check out some luchador matches, they combine the two and it’s great to watch.
Wrestling is drag.
I agree, but I have convinced some wrestling fans to go see a musical or two. They loved what I took them to but it’s a much harder sell for folk to go see drag unless they are already exposed to it (real drag, not whatever fox news thinks drag is).
