Fed hiring is broken not fed HR in general. Brining in yet another company or service provider isn’t going to improve it. Just about everything in fed HR is governed by law so if it needs to change it need to be done through law.

But this is likely just a way to give a buddy some money for his support

Yes, the Ellison family. The ones buying all the US media and installing pro-israel and axing any Trump critical personnel. :/

Honestly all hiring seems to be shit right now. Personally I blame online applications, while it may have allowed remote access it also allowed way too much traffic and folks using bots.

I agree that all hiring is shit and there are multiple reasons why, but federal hiring is next level hard. The last person I hired took five months from job offer to butt in the seat and she was a current federal employee. The positions on my team generally require a clearance so if I were to hire someone off the street, and my commander did not approve an interim clearance I could be looking at a year between job offer and butt in seat.

Then there is the grading problems once that is solved the step issues start on the GS payband. The fastest I’ve ever experienced is 120 day from offer to on boarding and that was for a person at the existing grade with the correct clearance.

The even more fun part is I may wait a month from the job closing before I even get a list of candidates so you’d think that HR had prequalified that list but that’s not the case. Once I receive the list than can have triple digit candidates I have three weeks to screen, interview, and select. My top three then go to HR to see if they’re actually qualified.

If I elect to hire someone that is not in a preference category I at best need to write a justification at worst I need to reject all and repost the job.

There are authorities that can expedite the process but those apply to very few job series.

And even with all that bullshit it’s probably more expedited than getting a job at your local 7/11 because everything has to go through a shitty hiring firm who likes to play stupid fuck mind games. Seriously I’ve been looking for even a part time job in my area and frankly speaking I’m lucky if I get rejected. I’m at least partly convinced I’m getting auto-shitcanned because I got into the good habit of separating my online identity and my real identity so when their programs look for me they come up blank.

I firmly fucking hate all of this shit.

Ain’t your fault, damned economy has been dying since before I was born and finally started to fail when I got into the job market back in 2019. Point is all this shit is coming to a head and it’s just most obvious in how bad it is to even get to the interview stage, hell I don’t even think it would naturally be this bad normally it’s just that every dipshit and their dog adopted the same dogshit practices around COVID making it so much worse.

Yeah, it’s not going to improve it one bit. Since it’s Oracle we’re talking about here, it’ll probably make everything much worse. But you are also correct, it’s just to give a good friend some taxpayer money.

It’ll be shit, since fed processes are massively divergent from what’s done in the private sector, so there is no off-the-shelf package that can be hammered on the meet the use cases.

It’ll also be shit since it’s Oracle. Their ERP systems are bloated shit, and so are their HR systems (which started as PeopleSoft, which was horrendous to start with, then made even worse by Oracle).
