This is exactly what Remedy’s multiplayer Control game should have been lmao.

They said movement and exploration of gw2 dialed up to 11 with the larger more open skill system of gw1 but it’s action combat. Basically sounds like they’re combining the best parts of both games and then leaning into the newer action MMO style combat instead of tabclicker.

Same with gw2 and wow but we’re talking 21, 16, and 14 year old games here lol, every “major” new MMO since those 3 has died… it’s not exactly inaccurate to call the genre dead.

Shout-out the return of Gloria Victis next week too, best pvp MMO I’ve ever played, the sieges are insane.

They already stated they will continue simultaneous development of all 3 games. Plus Anet genre hops each game, 3 is going to be more action adventure, so no reason to stop playing 1 or 2 even after 3 hits it’s stride.

Valve doesn’t have 50+ years of hardware experience though. Sony, Nintendo, and Msoft can all swing their big dicks all over that industry and get whatever the fuck they want, Valve cannot.

Valve can and does strongarm the software side all the time, the gaming industry would have died instead of exponentially surpassing the film industry if it weren’t for Valve setting strong precedents.

Is it that they can’t differentiate them or that they don’t care to? For instance; I play online RPGs, most people make tons of art for their characters, businesses, etc. majority of the time it is AI slop but sometimes it’s just shit edits…I don’t care for either so I’ll just dismiss anything with shit filters or unnatural construction/orientation as AI slop and move on because it saves time and brain space…oh fuck I’m turning into Dr Cox in my old age…
