I hate the kiosks BECAUSE they removed a key feature that the POS can do: substitution at no cost. If you order a McGriddle, sausage egg and cheese, at the POS, you say “substitute” whole egg (the white and yolk instead of the folded egg), and it’s the same price. At the kiosk, at least 4 years ago when I last used one, when you want to do this, you need to add the whole egg for a cost, then remove the folded egg at no credit.
At chick fil a, when you remove ingredients on a sandwich, that amount actually gets removed from the cost of the sandwich. Fuck chick fil a’s profit spending, but their ordering system is the best for customers.
My cat FINALLY figured out that I don’t want her on my chest to sleep. She jumps up in the middle of the night and nestles into my arm and purrs herself to sleep. It’s so cute. And I’m allergic to her. It’s worth it.

I’m so glad I left Mississippi 4 years ago. I’m never going back. I love being in a super liberal and leftist city. I have so much more freedom here. Sure, to own a gun I have to get a license or something, but I’m able to bus to work, go to a bar after work, get a little drunk, and then just bus home and be safe. I’m able to take my dog to a bar. I’m able to smoke weed. I have more financial freedom than I had 4 years ago.

Hmmm. It’s kind of weird that my work pays for every employee for a pro plan at $200/month for 10k credits. I use about 20k credits because I use it for my side projects and work all the time. That only costs the consumer about $600 total (with the $200). I wonder what discount they give the company employees, but also it’s kinda crazy with “how much AI costs” and how much they’re eating to get us hooked. Our company is hooked right now. They’re hoping they can keep this up until people forget how to program and not prompt maybe?
But right now I’m using it as a tool that I’m learning and not replacing my normal flow.
It would be great to not be this expensive.

My base pay is half what I get paid. I get paid my other half in stocks. It’s how big tech works.
I have a full pro model for Kiro at work. It does actually work, but we have custom MCP servers for all the internal tools, context on how to use these tools, style guidelines, etc. and then on top of that we have a lot of AI context files in the code base to help the AI understand the code base and make the correct changes.
I’ve been using it on a side project and it works if you know how to constrain it. It does get things wrong a lot. But the big thing about it is doing spec driven development where you give it a write up and it makes a requirements doc and a design doc with a lot of correctness properties in them to follow when generating and making the tasks.
I don’t believe people can vibe code unless they can actually code. It’s a whole different way of coding. I still manually edit what it does a lot.
A lot of people explain it like it’s a brand new junior developer. You need to give it as much context as possible, tell it to exactly what you want, tell it what you don’t want, tell it why, etc. and it still may not listen exactly.
I own a free oracle cloud virtual instance because it was free and better than every other free service. 100% dedicated VI, 4Gbps network bandwidth, 4CPUs at around 2.5GHz, 24GB RAM, and 200GB. All free. And no possible way to ever go over since those are static when I created the instance.
This is for a personal project that I didn’t want hosted on my home server to expose to the open internet.
I justify using oracle because I’m technically costing them money with no downsides for me.

As someone who likes working with higher level languages, I never understood the pass by reference or even referencing different pointers. It never stuck out to me as useful in what I want software to do. It’s too close to hardware.
