Its so funny that windows enables work places to use their resources so poorly. All those security measures and policies simply to be able to waste compute by putting desktops in front of people. When instead it should all be thin client or bring your own device and server side applications.
But here we are.
I use Windows for work and it’s a relief every evening when I can switch to my Linux desktop.
I can relate to that. Its always like I will do mundane crap in a haphazard and poor workflow way for money dealing with windows.
Then I use Linux and realize I actually like computers and can be productive.
Working remote has been great though. I do all my windows work via remote desktop in Linux. Somehow that helps a bit.
Pro: It just works and does what its told. Cons: I am concerned that long term viability of open source software in an AI and profit driven via job cuts world.
Miss from windows? Absolutely nothing. It just pisses me off. I have to manage Azure, Windows Server, Deployments, and other microsoft crap. It always just sucks.
You always could browse a menu and take all the time you wanted.
The kiosks are for trying to guide you to less choices if possible, and then upsell.

Is it because for every american their only choice to get any retirement or any interest on savings is to put it into stocks? Followed by massive speculation that maybe (I dont know this part) is driven by machine code that not only follows trends but creates them by thinking if everyone is investing and line goes up, maybe this is where the money should go, which reaffirms the algorithm. Until it doesn’t.
Surely these two things are a factor. That and companies continually laying people off, or cutting costs, or selling data which give the illusion of making money when really it’s just juggling the books and has no long term future.

I went to a Microsoft site to fill out a form to register for a 2 two conference. My CPU shot up to 100 percent. The task manager (in the browser) told me that this was using a huge amount of computer for a ton of javascript running on a page that didn’t need any at all.
It is very abused for analytics, little is used to make a page “nice” anymore.
Seems like people should get off their lazy asses and quit playing video games all day.

I don’t trust Microsoft, Minecraft is dead to me and I cannot count on them long-term.
