Has he checked a mirror?

When the shit hits the fan, they all turn on each other.

That’s a good question for which I have no good answer. It’s clearly something that would have to be dealt with.

Time for an alternative? Let the bots have the current Internet, we get a new, better, and more secure one.

I’ve got an IFTTT applet that works with Strava. Crossing my fingers.
The book I used to learn Pascal back in the day had this as the example for recursion.
Came here for JavaScript mention, was not disappointed.

Trump says all the quiet things out loud. The things you’d hear at the country club and black tie events. Things that Mike Pence thinks but won’t say out loud, even though most of his conservative brethren have been since Trump made it acceptable.
Most of the ones you’ll find today have the Photomic finder, which is mechanically connected to the aperture ring and shutter speed dial, but uses electronics for meter reading without opening/closing the aperture.
I have an F2, which was a high school graduation present, and it’s my go-to 35mm camera. It’s an improved F with an improved Photomic finder but still mechanically connected. The whole F series were designed for professional use and with some care will last for generations to come.

Late 60s. Came here on the heels of the death of Apollo and the Reddit API fiasco.
But not for long.

25% of CEOs know they’re throwing money away, but can’t stop because 100% of CEOs are throwing money away.

“Torch”, “Blast”, etc. are funny words that mean nothing to someone who doesn’t pay attention to anyone other than himself.

The purpose of the news isn’t to make you feel good, it’s to inform you of what’s happening outside your front door. But there’s neither time nor space to tell you everything, so some editorial work is required to distill it down to something you can reasonably absorb. Every news source has a different policy around how that is done, obviously. Good news has its audience, but it’s smaller than the one for other kinds of news. And since news costs money to gather, news outlets rely on advertising as a primary source of income. A bigger audience brings in more advertisers and more money, ergo, bad news is the way to go.

LLMs regurgitate their training material. Change the material and it will change the output. They can’t be relied upon to actually understand the situation.

It’s not just age, it’s when you’re living. Someone growing up in the '50s probably had more trust in the government than someone growing up in the '60s, for instance. But it really feels like overall trust has dropped significantly since then and probably won’t recover. Part of the reason is we simply know more about what’s going on. There are still secrets, but not like there were in WWII and the decade after.

I basically did that for a while. I’ve never had much of a following, and since it’s a hobby, not something I monetized, it was an easy thing to do. Eventually, though, I stopped posting on Insta entirely and went to Pixelfed exclusively. I kept my account, since like you, I have friends and family who are there and will never move away from it.
Turning this into a mass movement won’t be simple. Most people don’t think all that deeply about the implications of using a Meta product. They go where their friends or favorite celebrities are. If you could get someone with a huge following to make the switch, you might see some momentum.

I dunno, maybe putting an alcoholic psychopath in charge of the armed forces wasn’t a great idea.
What took them so fucking long?
