  • Not exactly what was asked, but I once worked as a personal banker at a bank branch that served multiple of the Washington Redskins (at the time), including many of their most valuable players. But I don’t care about sports, so I never knew who any of them were until I’d have to ask them occupation questions by regulation. A ton of them kept coming to me and told me that they loved that I didn’t know or care who they were and that I would never ask them a single football question.

Closer to the topic at hand, I also had another unrelated customer who had a doctorate, not a medical degree, and I accidentally called him “Mister” one day instead of “Doctor,” after which dude literally spent an hour of his day waiting to talk to my boss to ream him out for being “disrespected” by not using his title. Any time after that when he came in I made sure to include “doctor” in literally every sentence when speaking with him. 😁

Mispronuncing words, even misspelling them, especially if they’re new to you, is always entirely understandable.

But my point isn’t about people misspelling restaurant. My point is about the meme that restaurant is hard to spell. I would never judge a person in real life who struggled to spell it, that’s fine. But that doesn’t make it a hard to spell word, and there are a million actually hard to spell common words we don’t talk about like this. It’s another meaning pop culture regurgitation, and that’s the point I’m making

  • I feel like comparing 3d Fallout to 1 & 2 is almost pointless, they’re effectively entirely different games and universes, imo. That said, I think F4 is more immersive and diagetically-believable than 1&2, even if the themes and storytelling are shallower.

F1&2 are better storytelling games, F4 is a better immersive RPG.

And I fully loved the settlement building and even the unpopular minutemen help/recruitment missions. Though I concede that they’re way better with mods, but everything in any Bethesda game (including Obsidian-partnered New Vegas) is vastly improved with mods; I genuinely don’t even understand how people can play a Bethesda game on console without the ability to mod

I’ve never understood this meme - restaurant isn’t even a remotely difficult word to spell. I don’t think I’ve genuinely ever seen anyone in the real world past first grade who misspells it.

Why do we keep regurgitating these weird pop culture opinions with no basis?

I put this right up there with acting like anyone has ever actually given a shit if another person eats pineapple on pizza or pretending to dislike the word “moist.”

We don’t have to repeat shit just because we heard somebody else say it.

  • Fallout 4 is, by far, the best Fallout game.

Yes, having dialogs limited to 4 simplified options is unfortunate. Doesn’t matter, the rest of the game and gameplay makes up for that ten times over.

And yes, I am including New Vegas in the comparison.

Also there’s a game called Valfaris that I think is rad as hell. It wasn’t disliked so much as completely slept on. Definitely worth looking at if you like tough retro 2d shoot & platform games
