But Trump’s FCC has decided that this system is no longer working for them. Last month, they released a public notice announcing that they would like to force the TVOMB to change their ratings. Why?

“Recently, parents have raised concerns that controversial gender identity issues are being included or promoted in children’s programs without providing any disclosure or transparency to parents. Specifically, the industry guidelines that parents rely on are rating shows with transgender and gender non-binary programming as appropriate for children and young children, and doing so without providing this information to parents, thereby undermining the ability of parents to make informed choices for their families.”

That’s right: parents somewhere are scared of their children simply seeing TV shows with transgender and nonbinary people or characters, and so now the federal government is stepping in to protect them by forcing the industry to adopt trigger warnings.

Trump’s attack on Harris’ transgender policies were cited as a key contrast.

Specifically, the report suggested the Democratic nominee was “boxed” in by the Trump campaign’s “very effective” ad that highlighted Harris’ previous statement of support for taxpayer-funded gender-affirming surgeries for prison inmates.

Democratic pollsters believed that “if the Vice President would not change her position – and she did not – then there was nothing which would have worked as a response,” the report said.

What transgender policy? Harris had absolutely no policy on transgender people besides not giving a shit what the states did individually (the exact policy position republicans are supposed to be in favor of btw).

Harris boxed herself in by refusing to take a stand for anything worth voting for. Trump’s voters fell for the fear mongering like they always do.

Well, as per the quote, she stated her support for state-funded transition surgery in prisons. The very thing she had been accused of being transphobic for as she argued the state’s position against that in her role as a DA.

That’s not a popular position, but she’s taking it to show support -she knows she’ll lose some support for it, but hopefully gain support also.

Nope, turned out to be lose-lose.

          state-funded transition surgery in prisons.

Are you against prisoners receiving healthcare, including mental healthcare?

Just trying to figure out why someone would be against this (other than that they have no idea what transgender actually is, and think this is somehow sexual)

No. But in the 90s Kamala was the AG for California, where an inmate sued for transition surgery while incarcerated for murder. The state chose to fight the suit, and as AG it fell to Harris to defend them in court. This lead to charges that she was transphobic and would pursue transphobic policies as President.

To combat this view during her campaign she argued that she would support state-funded transition surgery for inmates. It ostensibly gained her no new support from LGBTQ voters and lost her support from ‘moderates’. And now LGBTQ persons are actively being vilified by the current administration.

No, she had a policy, she said one thing about it, she would ‘follow the law’ and then went on to say ‘that’s a trump policy anyway’ as if trying to say she supports the queer community even less than trump.

So even worse than no policy.

Cant imagine why democrats don’t do better in this country, how strange. 🤡
