Just like the various works of the SCP Foundation, it’s all canon. But that doesn’t mean it’s all embraced by the fandom; and works that don’t respect prior established rules or lore may not gain popularity or respect.
For instance, if you were to write a backrooms story about a liminal space that wasn’t actually very liminal at all, you might be doing it wrong. Or possibly right, if your work was actually very fantastic.
I would say there are multiple branches of this collaborative fiction with their own fandoms, and if you were to try to define what was “canon”, those would have to be separate, mutually exclusive canons. The Kane pixels videos is only one of these and not even the first.
backrooms lore is entirely decentralized. there is no “official”
Kane has his own universe for it but that doesn’t make anyone else’s lore any less worthy of consideration
Are you telling me there are porn videos involving Joseph D. Kucan?
Kanes universe, or the one with the Backrooms movie, is its own universe only kanes videos, music and other media are canon
