New York Governor Hochul Set to Mandate Speed-Limiting Devices for 'Super Speeders'

New Yorkers who have racked up 16 or more speed camera tickets will be required to install a limiting device in their car under the new measure.

    Across the border, in Ontario, get caught speeding 50km over (31 miles) and the following happens:

    1. Car is immediately seized, and stored at $250/day. You also get charged for towing.

    2. Fines up to $10,000, repeat offences, jail time up to 6 months.

    3. 14 day licence suspension.

    4. Insurance is cancelled, shunting you to predatory insurers who charge between $18-30,000 a year. 5 years minimum.

    So just one charge like this will cost up to $150,000.

    Street racing was out of control. This law ended it.
