it’s a little sad this flag got scrapped in favor of the Soyombo flag that was adopted post-WW2, because it is also very loaded with national symbology, but i do ultimately understand why it happened — easier to reproduce + national symbol is more prominent and immediately recognizable: something that was very important for the MPR to signal when the KMT had been breathing down their necks since the revolution.
all symbolism aside though i do like the animal portraits though. very cute :-]

Angola’s flag 🇦🇴 is one of my favorites along with Mozambique 🇲🇿. I’m also just very partial to the Red Star as a symbol, whether on a hat, flag, or other piece iconography.
