Nick Clegg was Deputy Prime Minister of the UK between 2010 and 2015. He then worked for Meta between 2018 and 2025, in a high-ranking position.

Of course it’s obvious that Silicon Valley has become more friendly with MAGA. An example was when Tim Cook gifted a gold trophy to Trump.

I think it’s interesting to hear this perspective from someone who worked high up at Meta, though.

MAGA is not “politics”. It is the mental illnesses[0] sympathetic to fascism masquerading as political ideology, spread through indoctrination and disinformation; through algorithmically-optimized psychological warfare.

[0] all mental disorders characterized by low/zero empathy such as narcissism, ASPD, psychopathy, etc. Racist parents indoctrinate racist kids. Religious parents indoctrinate religious kids. Both are achieved through the suppression of empathy and critical thought (e.g. being woke).

He needn’t bother criticising them now when he’s spent the last ten years sucking up to them and taking their money. I could not give a shit what he has to say. Fucking sellout.

But also… Meta has always favoured and elevated right wing shit, because it drives rage and ‘engagement’. This is who they’ve always been - including while he was there.

They do this regardless of whose in power. they lean into whatever the current administrations policies are to benefit themselves. They’ve always done this. If a democrat wins next time (hopefully there is one) then they’'ll all shift their policies yet again to align with that administrations. rinse and repeat.

Very true. Big business will claim to have moral values but only because they think those values will make them money.

Companies pursue profits. If the country is corrupt and a company playing into it makes more money, they will do that. Americans only have themselves to blame for letting maga win, and all the repercussions.
