To be honest, I wish people would stop making toys so centric in their headspace, please put all of that effort into fighting surveillance instead or something of similar consequence

Its not just caring though, in order to make waves with any of this stuff, you need to put effort in and that can scale to consume a lot of time for the people involved

God forbid people have hobbies or entertainment, right? How much time or effort do you waste on other bullshit, feeling superior despite the same failing? People can’t always be productive.

And before someone says about their artistic content, I agree, the word toys does exclude that, however, just like toys, art MUST take second place to more industrial and violent matters

Fuck right off, you don’t stop making art or enjoying life because there are political problems, you do more of it. Don’t let hate get you down, commrade, look to increase the amount there is worth fighting for.

What have you done this week to advance those causes? Why are you spending so much time sitting on your ass and complaining on mostly-empty online spaces instead of doing important things?

Why is wasting time and effort on the 14 people who will read this comment more worthwhile than trying to protect beloved passtimes?

I wish people would stop trying to put down a whole medium of creativity, art, social experiences and unique interactions as “toys” but I’m not expecting you to change that opinion any time soon. Once you’re done fighting surveillance are you just going to spend your spare time thinking about fighting surveillance? Don’t get me wrong, people should be doing more of consequence but it’s not possible to make every moment meaningful in that way.

There is no requisite “instead of” here. People can apply effort toward a great many causes.

And yet they do consume resources, and even a small amount of resources ( which is not what is being spent on these toys) would be better spent on more serious matters

Then why are you wasting your precious resources and time here talking about this? Go do something you think is more important.

People who make anything (including noble causes) their entire personality are deeply unhealthy.
