Ok, I’ve never tried opium, but something tells me petting a kitty while being high would feel marvelous.

Here is another one from Paris:

Not for the kitty it wouldn’t. The poor thing in that photo clearly wants to get the hell outta there.

The reason to feel bad for the kitty is that it’s most likely there because it gets a contact high from the opium. Which is just depressing.

Uh, no. If that cat didn’t want to be there, it wouldn’t fuckin’ be there. Dude’s high AF on opium, he couldn’t stop that cat if he wanted to and it would be a bad idea for him to try it in any case.

The man probably just held on to the kitty while slightly rolling to get a hit. Then when he is done he would have probably roll out more even and give the cat appropriate chin scritches.

Maybe it was the Victorian-era flash going off in a dark opium den that freaked the kitty out?

And we now know catnip acts on opioid receptors in their brains, so it makes sense to me that this cat would want to stay her and chill sans 1800s flash like u/homes mentioned

Wait, we know that catnip works on opiate receptors in their brains?

I wonder how it hits them, and if it hits other receptors. I always figured cats have special crazy receptors that makes them look like they see ghosts when they get in a mood, and catnip works on that.

Plenty of other plants will hit opiate receptors kind of sideways while it’s main action is elsewhere, iboga for instance but there are others.
