Apart from Global Warming, what explains the crazy high temperature? No wind? Too many mountains blocking weather? Why is it so hot?

It is a specific weather phenomenon called Heat Dome.

With what’s happening in the UK would that also be a heat dome? I only ask because that page says that it prevents precipitation but over here we’ve had hailstones 3 times and rain a whole bunch in very short bursts but once it stops it’s dried up before the end of the hour and it’s just as if not hotter than before.

If I understood correctly, the UK was hit by the edges of the dome which can bring some quite turbulent weather.
