There should be a bouncer who refuses entry to anybody who stinks.

That makes me wonder, does a bouncer at a club do that? I don’t think it would come up often at a club because people who go to those try to be as appealing and attractive as possible. As a result, the bouncer is keeping out people who are badly dressed, too drunk or high, who are looking for a fight, etc. But, maybe occasionally someone is trying to seem super masculine and doesn’t put on deodorant?

Bouncers go even further, the fancier the club. Don’t meet their desired client profile in any way, you’re not getting in.

I’ve been a bouncer for 10 years, the answer is yes. If someone reeks so bad you can smell it through the cigarettes and general club/event-musk, there has to be more going on.

Do you ever refuse entry for someone who is completely doused in perfume? Or is it only for body odour?

It’s never “just” for body odor. Like I said, if there was any way you can smell someone through everything else there’s probably more going on with that person. And yes that includes perfume.

In that case, thank you for your service. I, for one, find overly perfumed people to be just as bad as people with bad BO. I’ve had to cross the street when I was outside because someone walking in front of me was leaving a cloud of perfume stench in her wake.
