These are awesome! Thanks for letting me know about them.

So I have this book from the dark ages that tells you how to do a bunch of old timey farm things. You’ll never guess what it says to do with raw milk: BOIL IT.
As a gamer I always wanted one of these on the W.
Some of us are just bad spellers, my friend.
I used to be worse. You werent their back in my livejornal days. It was reely bed back than.
That’s not free time. That’s decompression time. Free time is time when you are well rested, all your needs are met, obligations fullfilled, AND you have unencumbered time to persue a passion or intellectual persuit. The rich have free time, the rest of us just take breathers from our responsibilities from time to time.
Or, or, hear me out. Deprioritize cars. Build public transportation/car free spaces/walkable cities, reduce/eliminate parking lots. Require smaller more fuel efficient vehicles. Build solar panels on rooftops/windowpanes. Plant and protect trees and other native plants.

The educated upper class, folks.

Every time I see that response I want to track down the poster and personally yeet them into the sun.
You’all have never seen a chonky horse wearing the grazing muzzle of shame having an absolute bitch fit because they can’t eat fast anymore with it on.

Remember when they initially called the Iraqi invasion “Operation Iraqi Liberation” but changed it because it spelled OIL. Same vibes.

Wait wait wait WAIT. I said skyscrapers can and ARE built out of wood. And your response was to IMMEDIATELY move the goal posts to bUt ThEy’Re nOT tHe TaLLeSt.
To that I say, not yet.
Taller “plyscapers” are being built. Oakwood Timber Tower is currently under development in London and will be 300m tall when it’s completed. A proposed 350m tall project is being designed for Tokyo. Just because something isn’t what we are used to doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try new and innovative things. Trees literally grow wood solely for the purpose of growing UP. They aren’t limited in size because the wood isn’t great at getting big, but because pushing water to the top gets harder and harder. Skyscrapers don’t have that issue. Why would a material that literally evolved to grow tall be a bad for building tall buildings. Concrete is fragile, heavy, and slow to dry, but we still make it work. Saying we can’t make skyscrapers out of wood is both factually untrue and unimaginative. Saying: “we’ve never done it this way and I refuse to consider any alternatives” is how we end up with stagnant outdated dull as dirt infrastructure.
I guess the Mjøstårnet isn’t a skyscraper.

Nor is Ascent MKE.

I’d rather live in a world where we try new things and architecture evolves and FACTS ARE FACTS.
I apologize for pointing out wooden skyscrapers exist, are being built, AND ARE REALLY FUCKING COOL.

You know there are skyscrapers built out of wood, right? And they’re kind of awesome.

In the US 1099 employees can write gas (or miles) off on their taxes (but that’s because they are classified as an independent contractor). I’ve also worked contract jobs (again in the US) where travel was compensated at X amount per mile (no where near the actual cost of gas was but it helped cover travel). But I’ve never been compensated for travel working a standard 9-5 job unless I went to a work event and was offered per diem.

Oh boy, wait until you hear about an ancient little sweetheart named COBOL.

LET THEM FAIL.

Ah that makes sense. They did have a similar vibe so I could have absolutely seen a crossover happening. Maybe if the show hadn’t been canceled.
Thanks for the info.

Your argument is: it’s already gross, so it’s who cares if it’s MORE gross? Personally I’d argue for cleanlier public spaces or antimicrobial surfaces on high contact points but you do you.
Also you’ll definitely notice once you get a fungal infection on your arms, you just won’t know how or why it happened.

Someone will eventually sit there and the airlines (edit: I’m realizing this might be a train but my point still stands) don’t wipe down anything between flights. Which means the next poor soul that sits there is going to have a stranger’s foot funk on their arms.

Not as far as I know, but I’m willing to be wrong. I only ever knew about the TV show.
Back to Basics. I find copies every now a then at used book stores and online - some cheap, others not so much. It gets reprinted from time to time so there are copies around with different covers. My copy is from the 80s and I think it’s also a reprint. There are also other books with the same title that cover wilderness and survival skills.
Edit: Found one
