The first couple times I saw the dress I saw it as white/gold. But after learning it was black/blue I stared at it and the colors seemed to shift in my brain. Now I can’t see the white/gold for the life of me.

I’m not talking about hanging back 5 or even 10 feet from the intersection, but sometimes 15-20. I often see people sitting back this far on their phone, so I can only guess that they feel it gives them a buffer to not pay attention to their surroundings. A few years ago I was stuck in a left turn lane with a large number of cars behind someone sitting too far back to trip the light (a T intersection where the left turn was always red unless triggered.) By the third light cycle the person in the car behind them got out, knocked on the window and had to show them where to pull up to. It’s a big fat white line. It shouldn’t be that complicated.
I travel through the South and West Chicago suburbs, where generally intersections are designed with a gap between the white line and the crosswalk to allow visibility.
So close. The first car is too close to the line.
I drive to patients homes all day and I daily see people in the suburbs stop far enough back that they don’t always trip the left turn arrow, sometimes leaving that lane stuck an extra cycle. It would be infuriating, except that my drive time is paid and mileage reimbursed, so I’ve chosen not to let it bother me. I just roll my eyes and wait.
Zero sugar sodas are 99% water.
If I have a glass of water, I’ll drink it when I’m thirsty. If I have flavored water, I’ll consume more because it’s enjoyable and I stay better hydrated. I tend to use a LOT of ice, so really I’m drinking that water too.

I can only see so much of the article so I don’t know where he’s based, but I know in some places the reimbursement is mandatory. Per IRS mileage reimbursement is currently $0.725/mile. Working in hospice I drive to patients homes with my supplies full time, which cuts me a check for about $300-450 mo, which more than covers gas.
I actually just switched to a hybrid so since reimbursement stays the same, it’ll start paying for the car a well.

When I roast my own chicken or turkey, I’ve already invested so much time into cooking and cleaning up that often I can’t give it more time to turn it into stock (id throw it in the freezer for another time if I had the freezer space.) If I buy rotisserie, I almost feel guilty if I don’t make more use lol. Plus my grocery store has an “almost free because it’s starting to rot” produce shelf. Pennies will get you all the veg for soup.

Growing up we called them helicopters because of the way they’d spin while falling. As an adult I’m more likely to think “welp, the tree shit all over the driveway again.” Lol

Sitting at a Toyota dealership this moment waiting on the hybrid I’m interested in to come back so I can test drive it. The list price is like $34,000 with a number of extras.
I drive for work (hospice) so I put on the miles, and it’s just that time.
It’s rather yellow so an enriched bread? Egg yolks will do that, so is “French Toast” suggesting that egg has been added somewhere (since the traditional custard bread would be dipped in for French toast contains egg?)
I’ve also seen “French Toast Bagels” before which are basically a richer, sweetened/vanilla/maple flavored bagel. Maybe they were going for a similar “French Toast” flavored slice of enriched bread?
God, I’ve already put far more thought into this than I should have.
Edit FUCK! BUT WHY THE PIZZA?!?!?!?

While I’m cooking the eggs (I use a $10 egg steamer I bought years ago for fully cooked eggs I’ll want to use cold) I’ll throw a random large bowl in the sink. I’ll throw a clean reusable ice pack in the bottom of the bowl and cover it with cold water. When the eggs are done I’ll put them in the cold water for at least 10 minutes, though honestly usually way longer because I’ll be doing other things while making the eggs lol.
If I’m planning on peeling all the eggs right away, I’ll crack the shells lightly before putting in the cold water. This seems to let some water seep under the shell as they cool and helps with peeling as well.

There was a saying I heard a while back that keeps popping up. A version of “Democrats would rather feed 100 people in case one was hungry, Republicans would rather withhold food from 100 people in case one didn’t deserve it.”

Shhhh - don’t give away the secrets of Big Bean!

And find a way to charge the fetus for the hospital bill after delivery.

I love me some avocado toast, but unfortunately in the Midwest I usually see them for about $2-2.50 ea for a decent sized one. I’ve had a hard time with the ones from Aldi that are cheaper. They tend to be tiny and the window between unripe and rotten seems to overlap.
When them bitches go on sale for $1 ea? I’ll eat it every day for a week lol.
I have a cat that ignored my spider plants for a year, then recently decided the stems with babies sprouting make the perfect toys to hunt. He eventually removed them all, leaving little sprout corpses around the living room.

Correct - my best ELI5.
When you wake up your body starts producing adenosine, which slowly locks into receptors in your brain. As the day goes on, these receptors fill. By the end of the day your receptors are full which tells you you’re tired and need to go to sleep. When you sleep, these receptors clear to start the next day fresh (which is one of the reasons if you don’t sleep well, they don’t all clear and you start the day tired.)
Caffeine fits these receptor sites, preventing the adenosine from locking in and delaying the onset of fatigue. Caffeine half life is about 5-6 hours, which can lead to the “crash” as the free adenosine starts locking into the receptors the caffeine is now making available as it breaks down.
When caffeine is consumed regularly and the brain isn’t detecting the expected adenosine feedback, it responds by creating more receptors. More caffeine is now needed to account for the new receptors. If you skip caffeine with the addition of receptors, the adenosine fills the extra receptors faster and leaves you comparitively more fatigued/with withdrawal symptoms. If you reduce/abstain from caffeine for a few days the extra receptors are reduced and you return to baseline.

I’d say it depends. I’ll admit to spending inconsistent amounts of time a day on shorts. Some days none at all, but some (typically stressful) days I’ve probably lost 1-2 hours. The content I’m getting is mostly cooking, horror movies/gaming, education, and health and fitness related. Through it I’ve found content creators with podcasts and have found some motivation to make exercise an achievable part of my daily life.
Is there a sea of toxic bullshit out there? Absolutely. But there’s also some freshwater lakes and rivers. It’s why media literacy needs to be included in education along with critical thinking.

Have you looked into some of the darker bits from the Epstein/Trump files? Coded language, but it appears to be in there. So if nothing else, she’s probably had conversation with someone in the know prior to the recent releases.
