Significant numbers of Google DeepMind employees recently launched a bid for unionisation, as part of efforts to end use of their technology by the Israeli and US militaries.
Bring it on. Very happy to hear unionisation efforts motivated by issues beyond pay and personal circumstances.


Interesting commentary on this by historian Aparna Nair on Bluesky. Essentially, saying that caste and discrimination is inherent in a certain cohort of the society which adhere to racism and eugenics.

Very interesting and credible. I recognise the hypervigilance part, and it sounds like there’s some practice/training as well as “instinct” in there too.


I’ve tried but they* don’t hit the way they used to. And they’re a bit louder than I remember.

That was a terrifying read, but thanks for sharing. I’d like to be able to spot it.
I would argue that similar tech in our lives causes similar issues. We don’t write things down anymore - just scroll on, with a fragmented mish-mash memory of what we’ve seen. Some capacity for retention gets exhausted in a given day. Just what I’ve observed in myself or among friends/family.
