Honestly, I would really fuck with a comprehensive Linux mobile experience. I know some things exist, but they aren’t yet fully rounded off. I say this now, but know damn well I’d tinker with something I shouldn’t and wind up needing to reinstall the OS like five times.

So, different mentalities express themselves in different places. For my workplace, talk about AI as an innovation happens more often. In my day-to-day, all the talk is concern about a new datacenter going up in our community. In the internet, people seem largely against AI. I find it to be a symptom of certain environments leveraging a different thought process.
I think it’s pretty fair to say, the internet overall cares deeply for expression and humanity, to which AI has fed off of to train, and now regurgitates in inhuman speech. This affects us all, and makes the overall internet experience worse. Oppositionally, AI has allowed businesses to streamline workflows. No more fluffing up an email with bullshit to “sound professional,” just have an AI do it for you and save the time. And as for local datacenters, no shame if you don’t know what they do to communities, but I don’t think you’d believe a Lemmy comment if it’s your first time hearing of it.

Pretty sure that is it. A lotta people in response to seeing him decry certain technologies tend to say, “that uncompromising nature on privacy is why GrapheneOS holds up so well.” Which I gotta be real when I say that it really does make me feel more comfortable with GrapheneOS’ development. I can’t keep up with all news on it, I’m not wanting to completely audit all the source code, but having a development team led by someone like that does bring a sense of ease toward my phone.
I was gonna say, you can tell who’s just a cryptobro vs who actually cares about fiscal freedom based on that. If anyone suggests you use bitcoin, they probablyyyyy aren’t someone to listen to. Zcash and Monero are the only two I’d ever trust as of now.
Honestly, its a massive shame that a technology as good as crypto was completely usurped by groups just looking to profit. They chant “This is true freedom of finance!” while only caring how much USD it’s worth. Like dawg, that’s why nobody takes crypto seriously.
For reference of just how easy this is, most AR-15s that I’ve seen have been units built from individual parts, my own included. That’s kinda the AR-15’s whole schtick, is that it’s super modular and customizable, so much that a lotta people joke that it’s “LEGOs for adults.” It makes good sense, if company A makes a good upper, but Company B makes good triggers, so why not mix and match for the best of both worlds?
No shame if you’re one of these people, but I figured mostly everyone on Lemmy would’ve known about this sorta stuff by now. While many apps are just frontends for services, the presence of an app alone is enough to massively expand trackability of the user. Heck, its profitable enough for companies to force people to use apps that some services are forcing all mobile website visits to redirect straight to an app store.

I know its a joke, but man I just bailed hay yesterday and I’m really feeling it. My nephew had his first time bailing, fella looks like a bit of a twig, and I could tell he was struggling with it. Monarchism led to constitutional monarchism, the beginnings of the rule of law. Through this rule of law, democracy could be organized.

I flashed it to my board once, yet I couldn’t manage to get it to work. This was back when I was new to ESP32 systems, so I likely could’ve just flashed it wrong, but even if it doesnt function in the current state, the framework is all there to go off of if someone wants to make a fork of it. It doesnt necessarily detect location though, but it does detect proximity.

As for tooling to take one down, I do discourage the laser route because it’s a risk to the eyesight of those in the surrounding area. What another thread pointed out is that a simple spraypaint can on a pole can do the job in a safer way, but the technology behind the lense/panel would still be functional. Do avoid cutting it down unless there’s a way to trash it within proximity, too.
For passive protection, surrounding your License plate with 840nm IR LEDs works well in most conditions that isn’t clear daylight. It would also block police plate readers though, so do consider adding a toggle switch to the LED circuit.

The union seems to see that amid the AI craze, their underperforming sector is at risk of being diminished, even if only temporarily.

I don’t believe that makes it any less valid, even if it is the case. Those are systemic things, which if one could be morphed by them, it’s fair to say others are too.
It ain’t your job to educate me, but if I can ask anyways, why would one opt to not vote out of principle? I went n’ looked it up, yet the only mention of it being a conscious decision are spotty, single sentences. Everything else seems to focus on the socioeconomic difficulties people can experience.
To me, it would seem that voting for a non-mainstream party would be optimal if you don’t trust the two-party system, wouldn’t it?

Honestly, I’ve kinda grown to hate these phones, yet I find myself constantly going back like it’s a digital addiction. Compared to entertainment media prior to these horror pocketbricks, seemingly everything had more novelty. TV/Movie nights were special and shared with family, and man it was always fun picking out what CD to pop into the player. Gaming sessions were entertaining because my brother would join, and we’d have a couch party with a GameCube, or even a Nintendo DS with a multiplayer game. He was such a screenpeeker.
It plagues me that the more I think on it, I truly dont feel it’s nostalgia, there seems to be a lost novelty, and the phone and internet largely seemed to replace it all. Now, couch parties are had as a Discord call, movie nights are supplemented with a customized YouTube feed. Even the era of personal websites are fading away.
On a side note, all those things are possible for us to have today, yet we don’t. It feels like a conscious decision to pursue convenience over connection, but why did we pick this path?
Honestly even explicit content aside, I’m afraid of being lumped in with some group that’s staring down the end of the barrel. Even though furries seem valuable to STEM jobs, the large LGBT presence and general ‘weirdness’ make it seem easy for us to be given some degenerate label.
We do have some similar things, like Meshtastic for messages, but that’s just texting via radio. As far as calls go, it’s mostly also just radio for now.
Session tried to get a call and text system setup whereby anyone can host a node, similar to a TOR node, but their foundation didn’t reach the funding total. The work is done, but some services are gonna be scaled back a bit. There is definitely a considerable push for systems like that, but they’ll take a bit of time for implementation as it’d otherwise just be another company owned service that’s outside our control.
