Maybe I’m not up to date on the situation but it seems weird the article doesn’t mention the construction of an international airport inside the Vjosa-Narta Protected Landscape, a sanctuary for over 200 bird species, including flamingos and endangered Dalmatian pelicans. It’s basically opposite the island they want to develop. I visited Vlora unaware of all the plans, and a big draw for me was visiting this habitat and seeing the birds. Its a beautiful place, sad to see Albania being fucked by developers and ruining their coastline.

I was paid a dawn visit many years ago by an armed unit (UK). The way they ran it was two plainclothes (handguns only) officers knock on the door to assess the threat, with a van full of tooled up guys in balaclavas just outside, just in case. It was all very chill and no unnecessary stress/escalation for anyone. Seems like this would be a more sensible approach.

Unless you see it coming via unofficial means which is not uncommon in large companies. When the same department roles are advertised in bulk in different countries for example, restructuring like this is rarely done en masse so when one department goes, people start to wonder if they’re next and do some digging.

The Index conttollers were a bit of a joke, in terms of both build quality and ergonomics. I had like 3 RMAs.

They just partnered with Adobe. I have mixed feelings about this, as someone working in the creative industries. I have used AI to do some amazing things, and recently figured out how to use Claude to automate some boring, non-creative and time-consuming worklflows. This all, in theory is freeing me up to spend more time on the fun creative stuff, the problem is that nobody values creativity any more because they can just outsource that to AI.

Maybe not particularly relevant in your industry, but I’ve been freelancing for a few years now and found physically going in to a company is the best way to get new clients. It’s very easy to ignore emails and calls, making a connection in the real world is so much more engaging. I have given up on LinkedIn and going after work the traditional way.
