    I am Turkish.
    I go to Turkish restaurants.
    Lots of Arabs working there.
Same food has become part of their culture too over last few centuries living side by side.
Some of our food is straight up borrowed from them, in fact.
Pretty sure one used to live/work in Turkey.
    They cook it well.
    I like it.

    I assume similar?

  • Actually kinda?

    Tap for explanation

In my experience most religious vocab was already borrowed to our native language over last couple of centuries.

Also quran uses a small set of words repeatedly a lot over the course, so there is surprisingly few you got to actually know.

Tho it’s still WAY easier to comprehend translations instead of deciphering linguistics. Probably why in my elementary school they all had the versions with translation.

(Looked something like this, arabic in middle and translation on bottom. Tho no QR and ours had translation on side) The Turkish elmalili hamdi quran, the translation is given like a sidenote on bottom

I think it’s popular in religious circles to read quran commentaries too? I know at least journalists used to publish new interpretations on the newspaper, and I assume religious scholars were the ones reading those.

Tap for slight criticism of the other comment.

Overall “Arabs are more extremist because they know Arabic” argument is over-simplification, and even a little bit of speculation tho.

For example there was also salafism, a puritan, “anti-innovation” movement, spreading through Wahhabism, a conservative religious ideology.

Wahhabism itself became popular for initially being anti-colonalist.

But modern preachers don’t really care about fighting colonialism, also “lets go back to the good old days of 700 AD, and women should watch TV with hijab on in case the news anchor can see them through the screen” is terrible.

Sorry for my poor English, hope this helps!
