I have sometimes wondered: instead of elections, what if we could register a vote, which we could change any time? This might not have been feasible with paper ballots, but in an age of increasing digitalization, this should work.

I do see the downside though that most coalitions would only last a couple of months as majorities shift.

Another idea: A website where people can directly vote on issues, no representatives needed.

To answer this question, it is important to understand how oil is used.

1. As a Fuel. Oil holds a lot of energy which can be released by burning it. It is certainly possible to use other power sources (renewable energy, nuclear energy, coal etc.) It is also possible to produce biofuels, which apparently (for now) takes more effort than extracting oil from the ground and producing fuel from that.

2. For extracting chemicals. Many things are actually produced from chemicals extracted from oil, such as plastics. Some of these chemicals may be produced or extracted in other ways, others may not.

We put ourselves into echo chambers where our assumptions and opinions are never challenged. You might talk about people with different opinions, but rarely to them. Live in that environment long enough, and you stop to question your convictions, and become increasingly incapable of articulating why you hold them, or to consider the perspective of ‘the opponent’.

There are two ways of handling security vulnerabilities.

One is to try and find them before the “bad guys” do, then fix them. The other is to do nothing and just hope the “bad guys” don’t find them (or have already found them and are already exploiting them)

One thing I like about having human friends is the shared human experience. No AI could replace that.
