If we’re lucky and lemmy is more of less left to its own devices then we’ll probably get a few more users as Reddit keeps getting more and more awful.

If we’re not lucky then either Reddit or Meta will decide that lemmy needs to be somehow incorporated into their services wether we like it or not and we’ll be inundated with a deluge of the worst possible kinds of users. Spam bots, trolls, scammers, people trying to use it for their crappy MLM schemes etc.

The whole point of Daredevil is the dilemma between the forgiveness and grace of his Catholic faith and his need to punish “evildoers” like the ones who killed his father. His dichotomous nature means as Daredevil he hands out punishment, but as Matt Murdoch he helps people who made one mistake or are just unable to fight the system in general have a chance to make a better life for themselves. That’s what has made the character interesting since Frank Miller revamped him in the late 70s. If the whole comic/show was just a guy callously trying to send everyone to jail for as long as possible the whole time it would be very one dimensional and REALLY boring.

Comics are all about telling a compelling and entertaining story, which means they don’t always follow perfect real world logic.

I’ve actually heard several different women try to argue that if a man even just looks at pornography it somehow counts as “cheating”. They were all quite upset when no one agreed with them but seemed unwilling to change their opinion. They did not appreciate my laughter but in all fairness I genuinely thought they were trying to make a joke

The best advice I can give you there is to try and find some people who share a common interest and strike up a conversation? That was how I made most of my friends I knew from work and we used to go out for drinks after work or sometimes someone would have a party where I would always meet new people

I wish I could give you some better advice than that but when I was in my 20s social media was still a new thing and everyone still met up and shared stuff IRL 🤷‍♂️

When I was in art school a guest professor fussed (nicely) at me about this lol She said I clearly had skill but I was making everything too precise and people like art specifically because it looks handmade

I don’t know what your particular social situation is but I’d say it’s time to go out and maybe meet some new people? You’re pretty young and it sounds like you spend a lot of time online it might be good to get out in the world where you can have experiences with people your own age if you can. You’re right it can for sure be weird talking to your parents about this stuff

It sounds like you really liked your friend online but if they’re not willing to talk any longer it’s definitely time to move on and try to make those connections somewhere else
