  • I don’t watch any TV, news, media, etc

Where do you get your info then?

You get you’re info probably from some FB group eco chamber about how “everyone else not Democratic” is ruining the country.

I deleted my fb years ago.

I agree that dems aren’t doing enough. There are a few decent ones, but nothing will change until people get up off their asses and vote for progressives in the primaries to make the count of decent ones more than just a few. Both parties suck, but good change will never come from Republicans and it will take a lot of pressure to get it from Democrats.

  • More or less, yes. I think their thought is that UE5 already has a dogshit reputation, so they’re bringing RL to UE6 which has a pretty big following and rich e sport community, so they can publicly showcase that the engine can easily handle fast, precise physics in an online game, without the need for a beefy CPU since UE3 has a pretty big thread bottleneck. Additional benefits are better utilization of GPUs and probably better incorporation of creators’ content, even on console. And if it works as well as it theoretically should, it’s proof of concept marketing for devs to hop onboard with using UE6 to make their games. It’s a commercial that itself should be profitable.

But idk, we’ll see. Maybe it’ll be more dogshit.

I agree that learning and thinking are incredibly useful to society, but only if that knowledge gets applied somehow.

She helped her father. Without her encouragement, he would’ve given up, but he kept at it and finished the wood chopping machine. And it’s implied that he wasn’t really caring for himself. I’m not sure if he did anything else like farm, or maybe he was an aging woodchopper looking to find a way to keep being useful.

Belle was more than able to be an educator but it seems like she was completely disconnected from everyone and chose to spend all of her time on leisure.

How do you educate a town that doesn’t want to be educated? And again, she was self-educating in her spare time. It’s unreasonable to expect every hobby to be expressly for helping others, just as it would be to monetize them. Not to mention, education is an investment. Maybe she could invent something in the future like her father was doing in his later years. More likely is that she might write books of her own, but you see how little the rest of the town values books and those who read them. The town just isn’t the right place for her.

It’s weird that the town gave a shit about her choosing to read, and even weirder that people here in the real world are siding with the fictional dumb hicks here. It’s not like she owed them anything. Especially after the way they treat her and her father. Fuck those judgy yokels. Even these days, I get a sour look when I mention reading books. It’s like half the people in the world decided to grow up to be Matilda’s shitty parents.

Seemed like she was taking care of her father while self-educating in her spare time.

The subtext of your comment indicates that a person is either producing something or is useless, and I both disagree with that idea and think that learning and thinking are incredibly useful to society. I think that if we aren’t striving to enable the option of more idle time for anybody who wants it or needs it, then what the fuck is the point of any of this? Criticizing somebody for enjoying idle time is ludicrous.

Yeah, but she’s right though. Gaston is psyched to be the biggest fish in their small pond town. Belle wants to be in a bigger pond. She aspires and yearns for more than her little town can ever offer her while everybody else is content to just exist as is. Gaston might not even be literate, yet he has the respect and adoration of pretty much everybody in town. Everybody thinks she’s a fucking weirdo for reading books. She and her father are the town pariahs for growing brains, so it’s kinda wild to criticize them for wanting something better than a town full of people who shit on them while worshipping a dumbass prettyboy.

  • I wish. They’ll just look to abolish minimum wage entirely. “The free market will enforce a true minimum wage on its own without the need for pesky government interference. If you own your own business and you understand what you’re employees’ labor is worth, then you and you alone should be deciding what to pay your employees. If it’s too low for them to accept, then they will go elsewhere, and somebody who is willing to work for you at that wage will fill the job.”

They will proclaim that your protections are actually chains, and 1/3 of the country will cheer for the “chains” to be removed. Freedom! America! Yay fascism!

  • I’m interested to see how Wolverine is. And there’s supposed to be a 2D Castlevania game coming soon that’s looking good. I’m kinda interested in the Metal Gear collection, but I doubt I’ll pay full price for any of these. Everybody seems excited about 007 and GTA6 but idk how much I’ll care about those.

I usually discover games well after everybody has moved on from them. I don’t really bother keeping up with gaming news anymore. I just get stuff on sale and enjoy them later. A lot of bugs are usually fixed by then too. I’m just now starting Star Wars Outlaws and it’s fine. Only a couple of minor bugs so far, and it’s fun enough I guess.

  • Yeah, just a little /s

Idk anything about Alabama, so excuse my ignorance if this is blissfully naive, but it would be amazing if voter turnout were so high that district 6 (between Birmingham and Montgomery) could unexpectedly flip. I would love for the gerrymandering to be by such razor-thin margins that they lose seats in some of these states rather than gaining them. This was my only worry about the Virginia redistricting. Super disappointing to not see much of a fight back when courts overruled the will of the voters, but at least it’s safe I guess. I would’ve loved to have a rep who at least pretends to care about my community.

  • Cherry, apple, blueberry, whatever fruit she likes you can probably find a good recipe for a pie that features it. Does she go nuts for pumpkin spice lattes? Pumpkin pie. Insists on keeping bananas in the house? Banana cream pie. Or maybe she just loves oreos and you can get a store bought oreo pie. Just make it clear that you know her and have been paying attention to what she likes and she’ll enjoy what you make/buy for her.
