Jellyfin is boring but Im not knocking it since it’s open source and could replace my plex in the future.

There are only like 4 movies I want to watch when I’m away from home and they are stored on my laptop. I had plex setup for outside use but didnt use it that much and figured when I did I was only interested in 4 movies. Step brothers - The greatest beer run - the big Lebowski - master and commander! Yeah my point exactly PS was giving us free access to online 4+ years after xbox started charging for it. The anti gaming console!

The scary part and the reason I never paid is because I think they will shut down plex soon. No one is paying for streaming services anymore and those giants will start coming down on the gov to do something about it. EU is coming down pretty hard on IPTV and torrent sites already.

The PS3 offered free online multiplayer with no subscription required, and at the time it seemed unlikely that players would ever accept paying simply to access online gaming. Then Xbox introduced Xbox Live subscriptions, and the industry shifted in that direction. Looking back, I underestimated how willing the gaming community would be to normalize recurring fees for online access and now paid online services have become the standard across the industry.

I used jellyfin but prefer plex and since I use it locally its free and better than jellyfin. If plex ever charges for local use hello jellyfin!

The ipad is fine I have a secure network no porn and no voice over roblox. The trick is not to just take it but give them the 10 min warning and they will just bring it to you. We always check his communications and remind him not to share any personal information with anyone online. He has a healthy relationship with the internet and his devices. Sometimes to get his ipad he needs to go for a walk with me which makes for good conversation and it’s good for his health.
