If I find myself in that conversation with a wrong-thinker, I couch renewables as a way of reaching independence from a generally uncertain world, energy costs and grid stability (all while avoiding other hot-button topics). I try to discuss the positive aspects for everyone. They are usually agreeable, and I keep pressing (with mild excitement) with how cool the tech is getting, how I am learning things and then talk electricity and now we’re on to general topics and the comfort zone returns for them. Hopefully their perspective changed a smidge. If not, nbd to me.

It isn’t as much as not knowing how to govern as much as they just don’t want to. They are managing a power shift away from those that do. Only there to grab power and if they can also fit some grift in they will.

That and the quality of the disc. There used to be a manufacturer grade rating for the CD/DVDs. Don’t know if BR got rated as well.

I am not an optical disc expert, but I recall with CDs/DVDs, factory pressed are more resilient whereas burned discs can rot more easily. I believe this still holds true with BR. Furthermore, there are carbon-based BR discs that profess to not exhibit data rot for 1000 years.

If memory serves correctly it was another Samsung device it was leveraging which makes more sense. There were other occasions where it had once been attached to WiFi for a firmware update, disconnected and told to forget the network, but attached again to it at least twice. Took the steps to forget the network again and then powered off completely. Subsequent checks show no further connections so far.

I know that a Samsung teevee disconnected from the internet will try and use another appliances internet connection if it can. Gotta imagine this is possible in other devices, too.
