Or just simple greed?

Or just simple greed?

Nonetheless, this is the first time he has openly spoken about bringing the war to an end. Until now the narrative was that it will continue until complete victory. That’s why this acknowledgement is a much more momentous statement than the actual meaning of what he said.
That being said, at this point I think the Ukrainians might keep the war going until they get complete victory. Although they are also incredibly war weary, so probably not.
Don’t send a diving team in, they might come back with a megalodon.

This was what I immediately thought of as well.

They can plan and wish all they want, Orban has made it impossible to get anything done without a 2/3 super majority in parliament and at the same time made it as good as impossible for any non-Fidesz alliance or party to win such a majority.
An example of how difficult it will be to not only rule but to stay in power: the budget council, packed with 3 Fidesz loyalists for at least the next 4 years, can veto any government budget for whatever reason. If the government is unable to pass a budget, the president (also a Fidesz loyalist) can call snap elections. Both can only be changed with a super majority. This is just one of the many legislative booby traps in the path of Tisza.

Windows 11 has given me so many headaches at work I have genuinely explored moving the entire corporate environment to Linux. Unfortunately it would be a massive multi-year operation that would not bring the amount of benefits required to get such a thing greenlighted. But simply the fact that I, and many peers, took a good hard look at it tells you just how incredibly shit Windows 11 is. It’s a fucking nightmare on so many levels, it’s ridiculous.

The one good thing that may come out of this, is the Arab countries bankrolling and supporting Ukraine, as the Ukrainians actually help defend against the drone and missile strikes with their homegrown interceptor drones and missiles.
Unlike Russia (supporting Iran) and the US (screwing things up as a policy), Ukraine is proving valuable to them in times of need.

Throughout history the human population has only been able to increase thanks to innovation. Irrigation, the wheel, alternating crops, crop distance, keeping disease in check, genetic engineering to increase resistance and crop yields, and this is another innovation in that line. If you want to go back to nature, by all means do.
I believe the only way forward is through science and innovation and if that means genetically altered food for the bees, then so be it. This with the in combination with limiting roundup should bring the global bee populations back from the brink.

I live in an area where you don’t have to have a car, you can do most things without. But you’ll have to pry my car keys from my cold dead hands because it is so incredibly more convenient and faster to have one.
Edit: noticed the community. To be clear, I’m all for good infrastructure for people who don’t own one, I just wouldn’t go back to the days where I didn’t have one.
Don’t sell yourself short, you’re hot property!

As someone who grew up with parents who believed the rapture was constantly about to happen, this is really not newsworthy at all. The predicted date shifts a couple of years each time another one passes by without anything happening. The most original I thought was some date in 1998, because that’s 3 times 666. But really, it’s just a random number from some swindler, usually.

I managed to park over half the c:drive. I drive an X5, BMW.

I’m afraid to ask, but just how the fuck do you poop exactly? Do you helicopter poop it hippo style in the middle of the bathroom?
Like “Drive to Survive” for animal care, if I understand it correctly?

Meanwhile I strongly suspect our legal reviewer of using chatgpt to review contracts, because he sends some laughably stupid comments that look fully AI generated.

This whole thing hinges on a strong economy, some sort of super weapon and a weak Europe.
Their economy is shit, there isn’t and won’t be some super weapon and although Europe has a slow decision making process, the countries that matter are not as weak as Russia needs them to be.
The assumption Europe won’t cut Russian energy off was also wildly optimistic.
They’re still trying, but instead of a third empire they’re getting a century of backwardness and poverty. Well done Vladimir, you will go down as one of the worst rulers in history.

I want to watch this as well, but can’t find anything either. I sent a mail to the opera house asking how I can get a recording.
Edit: got a reply. They don’t have the recording and told me to contact the choreographer as he apparently owns the rights. Will try to do so later today (at work now)
Update 2: Found the instagram of the choreographer (Edward Clug) and sent him a message
Update 3: After checking his instagram a bit further, it turns out that there still are performances now and then (averaging at 1 per year, last one was in April). This led me to some more internet searching and I found where you can watch the most recent one (at La Scala in Milan): https://www.medici.tv/en/ballets/edward-clug-peer-gynt-grieg-la-scala
Last update: he blocked me without responding. But hey, I found it so I still call it a win.
I once interviewed a guy after HR had already talked to him. Told him straight up the permanent job would preferably go to an internal candidate, but we still needed someone like him temporarily, even though HR had told him it was for a permanent job. He still took it and the internal candidate was promoted 9 months later. I’m still friends with the guy that took the temp job.
