Interesting! I have heard almost similar with eye-byoo-proh-fen instead. Wonder if it’s a regional thing or an individual thing.
Ask me food safety and food science questions.
What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
The goal this year (2026) is to lurk less and post and comment more.

That’s a good one! Maybe not quite on top, but still a good answer. I think it’d be like how they teach us directions as kids: Never Eat Shredded Wheat, Never Eat Soggy Weiners,… Just looked up how others remember this, and some of them are NSFW. 😂

Hmm… Might be a roundabout way, but occurrence could be that good things occur in threes… So 3 C’s. I don’t know what to do about the double R’s though.

Oh, good one. I forgot that I used to say this as a kid!

There are so many words that are squiggles under words when my documents are set to “English (Australia)”… Program vs programme, feces vs faeces (I swear I don’t just talk about bodily functions all the time - it’s part of my job).
I did write “candy” on one of my first Food Act Orders that I wrote here in AUS, and my boss wanted to look over them before I sent them out. She circled it in red and wrote “What is this”. Granted, she was a very peculiar individual and I don’t think she ever left her city to explore what was out there.

This is really good! I’m keeping this for when I have nieces and nephews to teach.

I’ve had a big day so I haven’t had time to respond to all of the comments, but this cracked me up so I have to explain now before sleep, haha. I’m so sorry for laughing. What I meant is just for the spelling of diarrhea vs diarrhoea.
However, I did spend a lot of time in regional Victoria waaaay out west (7 years) and they really did border on saying “diarr-roy-uh”… Or “diarr-ROYEE-uh”. There’s really no way of putting some Aussie pronunciations in to words. Maybe occa. When I first saw “naur”, it was so odd, but it kinda works.

I just thought of another one… Yogurt and yoghurt. And yes, I definitely do the Wed-nes-day thing, too!

What’s your native language? English has so many rules and exceptions.
Knowing where to not eat, stay, swim, or do any beauty/health treatments (tattoos, mani/pedi, hairdressing, etc.), and knowing how to protect myself.
Scouting out festivals and special events pre-opening and during for free.
Learning secret recipes and secret ingredients to make food level up.
Flexibility.
Edit: Clearly did not read instructions. The top one is the best perk. The second one is on par if I got to do more festivals!

Lavos in Chrono Trigger. 😭

Shopping where the deals are. Don’t be loyal to a brand. It’s easy, but if you’re going to keep going to get Hellmanns mayo at full price, Aldi has one that’s their home brand that tastes just as delicious at a fraction of the price.
I don’t drink, smoke, or do drugs. I do a lot of cooking at home, and I teach myself to make delicious and nutritious foods that may be copycats of what we’d get at restaurants. It’s a fun little challenge at a much cheaper price for way more than just one portion.
Sometimes I just want to go vego for a few days or weeks, so I go online and find some budget food recipes (beans, lentils, rice, etc.), and I usually find some really good ones.
Back home in Canada, I was couponing a lot. This was 8+ years, ago, I don’t know what it’s like now. Coupon culture is not a thing in Australia, but I shop mostly at Aldi. There’s a Coles and Woolies just across the street, so I do my research on what’s cheapest, and buy that item there.
I buy in bulk if I know I’m going to eat it all. I go hard on the pantry items.
Shop what’s in season.
Shop your local Asian grocer! Sometimes they have stuff way cheaper than supermarkets.

I thought I had good sourdough until I went to a cafe near Warburton, Victoria, and wow they do an amazing sourdough. The sandwich was simple, but the bread made such a difference.
Irish soda bread is so unique to Ireland, I’ve not been able to find it anywhere outside of that country… So we overdose whenever we go back 🤤
But in actuality, I love any bread that is fresh from the oven. I’d devour an entire focaccia if I was allowed to.

I love a good seeded, bouncy (not to be confused with airy), tangy sourdough bread. I’ll eat it untoasted or toasted with butter, or in a sandwich. Everyday if I could.
I am also partial to any naan, and Irish soda bread. Naan to be eaten with curries, and Irish soda bread toasted with butter.

I do this sometimes, especially when I am stressed out and just need time to relax and forget everything for a while by immersing myself in whatever I’m listening to. Same with just sitting on public transport. Sometimes, I just stare out the window, and everything I hear is just sound because I’m just in the moment. I’d otherwise be on my phone like everyone else.
No, you’re not weird.

Can confirm, ants in Australia are evil.
Though I haven’t done research on this topic, I do have a first hand account of how freaky red bull ants are.
I’ve gone hiking and sometimes I come across them. I usually hike with poles, so I always look before I plant. I planted by a red bill ant once, and it really took offense. It kept facing me no matter which direction I was from it, like it was waiting for an opening to climb my shoe, sock, and get my leg. I have been “stalked” when taking small steps away.
I don’t think they sting, but their mandibles, though. 💀 Not sure if there’s any documented deaths caused by this ant, but it sure would hurt being bit. Same with bull ants. Deaths from anaphylaxis probably, though.

I’ll sometimes boil water and steep a few tea bags in a 1 bottle. Put it in the fridge and have it the next day. There are plenty of types of tea out there, so it’s flavoured water.
I sometimes prefer this to fruits and veg because by the end of the day if I’ve forgotten to eat the fruit and veg, they just go mushy and it gets wasted.

I have a Garmin Fenix 5 Plus. I track my activities whether it’s a long walk, a hike, or paddle. It helps when hiking because if I get a bit lost, I can look at the map to see the trails I’ve walked, or how fast I’ve paddled/hiked/etc. It also has an emergency function so if my heart rate suddenly spikes or if I quickly drop in height (like a cliff, though it has been triggered once when I climbed down a water fall), it’ll send an emergency message to my emergency contacts with coordinates.
I have it set to remind me to move every hour if I haven’t moved from my desk. This in addition to step counts.
Sleep tracking, though Garmin is/was notorious for poor sleep tracking, so I don’t really count on it too much.
Date and time. I also have a little clock on the bottom to tell me what time it is back home so I know when to not call.
I like seeing my fitness go up on the dial. Not so much the other way around.
I also use it for my morning wake up alarm. It vibrates on my wrist instead of an audible alarm to wake up the +1. He doesn’t have a smart watch, so I wake up every morning at stupid o’clock.
Badges. I love collecting the badges.
