  • From The Intercept 2025, CEO Andy Yen made these posts on X:

“10 years ago, Republicans were the party of big business and Dems stood for the little guys, but today the tables have completely turned.”

“Until corporate Dems are thrown out, the reality is that Republicans remain more likely to tackle Big Tech abuses.”

Protonmail has been pro-trump strictly for its own economic interests. Its definitely believable that they would endorse right-wing media figures in its own economic interests.

This doesn’t mean you should go back to google. That’s silly. Just know that Protonmail or any corporation isn’t a long term solution. They aren’t immune to enshittification. And all businesses inherently have political interests. The only long term solution is open source and self hosted.

Maybe I’m just blissfully unaware of the full discourse that Jacobin article caused but it seemed extremely mild when I read it. It basically was chastised him for not following the discipline of the labor union he helped form. Couldn’t say I disagreed with the article but I also don’t think it needed to be written at all.

  • I’ve seen SMTP servers self hosted alongside WordPress just for sending invite emails. There’s definitely some openssl keygen and DNS magic that needs to happen. Then it took almost a month before email sending really worked. There was a while where it would show up in spam for most recipients while gmail would flat out ignore it.

If you’re not scared of the openssl/DNS magic and are willing to let it sit for months before actually migrating then yes.

  • So I tried to actually verify what a current in-n-out burger costs and learned two things:

    1. In-n-Out does not offer online ordering at all so you can’t look up their prices online.
    2. There’s a whole ecosystem of ai slop websites explicitly trying to give you the prices of in-n-out burgers. Those all seem to suggest that in-n-outs burgers are all still less than 5 dollars.

If you really want to see some inflation look at Taco Bell. Their prices were usually the lowest but they’ve inflated more than any other brand something like 300%.
