  • yeah, but that was not what the proposal would have restricted - the proposal only was for the inner berlin city to be restricted on cars movement. Those outer areas would not have been affected. the only inconvenience would have been for them to park their cars at the nearest/best connection to the inner city and continue by public transport (which is faster than going by car). the parking lots and infrastructure for that already exists, but is not used nowadays.

  • sorry, that’s not the situation germany is in at all. Its just that we have a stable social welfare net that will catch you up. no one wants to live in the social welfare net forever, as the saying goes, its too much to die, too less to live. but the story above, as far as it sounded to me, was, that he would be transfered to a new job within the same company, and asks now whether he should put in any effort at all, as his previous supervisor apparently did not appreciate his work at all. He is now considering, what to do until May, whether he should lie low, call in sick etc. until his transfer is completed.

  • “if they go low, we go high” only helps so much as if the public and the other side is concerned about their reputation. so democrat leadership telling fellow democrats to maintan the high ground is so much of an outdated concept in today’s landscape that you could even call that unrealistic and spineless. One has to fight for their voices to be heard. It was the same in the weimar republic before nazi germany. Where the communist party KPD helped Adolf get elected as chancellor. Not so much surprising, shortly thereafter they were all imprisoned. Let the american democrats hear that lesson from history.
