I love my media library and I just couldn’t stand waiting for the rolling boil. I’ve been using Adobe products since 1999. I recognize an abusive relationship when I see it.

You are more concerned with people’s relationship with Plex than the people actually using it. I can’t speak for free tier users, but lifetime pass holders have yet to be affected by changes in how Plex does business. Until that changes, can you please stop acting like the sky is falling?

The problem is not how ‘this feature is there", but how long until "this feature is now $X.XX’.

It wouldn’t really, but you should already see “the writing on the wall”. Your own collections aren’t prioritized, and who knows what they’ll do next - putting ads into your own personal collections maybe?

A lot of people are too hung up on what could happen, rather than what is happening. I don’t see anything other than my own media since Plex can remember that that’s how I want to use it. In daily use I don’t see any of their additional attempts to generate income. I can share with anyone easily and not expect them to mess with any VPN or other tricks to connect remotely, and neither do I have to set any of that up.

It’s nice that there are good alternatives, but none of them are a complete replacement for Plex. Jellyfin users on lemmy are just in a very special bubble within a bubble.

Doing that would raise certain implications, and validate a lot of concerns people have with police in the USA. I don’t think that’s likely to happen.

They should be charged with something, but I’m sure that won’t become a legal case which confirms that the police is basically a blunt weapon that can be swung with a phone call.

I run into this with my wife because we put different importance on different information, and I tend to go for succinct rather than take an hour to get something across.

Austria here. Costs go from nothing to basically nothing. Prescribed medicine costs a flat fee of a few € per item/box. Wait times are usually short but can vary, I’ve only had really bad experiences for general doctors outside of normal hours (there are always some of them open for availability on weekends and holidays). But that’s to be expected.
