Not all of us will do it to the same degree though. IT security has always been a sliding scale between security and convenience. The most secure data is stored in a locked safe without being turned on or connected to anything. That’s not very practical, so we make concessions based on how often we need such data and other convenience metrics.

I’m not as paranoid as the OP, though I agree with some of the stuff said. Reasonable security measures are fine; you don’t need to look like a digital version of a prepper with a bunker, for most people.

As another poster pointed out, the mature for your age part automatically makes the people offering more drinks older people who go after younger women, which is abundant in many places. I was recently discussing this with someone who has been through this when she went back to her home country of St Vincent (while I have Vincentian heritage and lived there from 2-7, I was born in the US and lived the rest of my life here).

Anyway, she says it’s almost expected down there for younger girls and older men to get together, and some people hit on her because she (at around age 21) looked young enough to be in high school. When she told them she was older, they told her excitedly that she’d be even more popular because she’d be legal despite looking young.

It doesn’t really; it’s hyperbole by comparison. The distance from my home to the moon is vast and unwalkable, but if you compared it to the distance between the earth and the center of the galaxy, someone might say it looks like a short walk in comparison.

It obviously still is not possible, but it’s a way to stress how big the comparison is.

I’m not sure I understand your point. Do the other cities around share in the burdens of having the data center there? Are they sharing the consequences to water, electricity, and pollution equally? Tax burdens and the like as well? If not, why should it matter who the neighbors are? If so why are they even separated in the first place?
