Yup, Tom’s is the last of the originals still running (HardOCP, anandtech and sharkyexteme are all gone), but it’s absolutely a garbage site now.

They increase the cost of consumer electricity and water; they increase the temperature of the local area; they generate (in some cases) heavy metal pollution and (in most cases) sound pollution.
What’s not to love? ;)

Just wait until OpenAI and Anthropic get their IPO and the front slowly falls off. A recession will happen shortly thereafter.
IMO, those IPOs are going to result in a recession because once the market realizes LLMs are nothing more than unsubstantiated gains, the bottom will fall out just like it did on dotcom.
Watch, they’ll launch to great fanfare, then the prices of AI credits will go up.
Companies will complain so they’ll release something ‘revolutionary’ that costs a little less, but ultimately costs the AI companies more.
Once the new LLM loses its fanfare, they will be forced to jack prices up to cover costs and ultimately fail.
It’s a tale as old as the markets.
I’m literally a subject matter expert (SME) on Enterprise Storage Arrays and can absolutely attest to ‘hitting it’ being an actual tier 3 support suggestion for spindle drives. It’s still a thing and will continue to be one so long as spindle drives continue to exist.
It was a method to unstick stuck drive platters, but hasn’t worked since HDD manufacturing processes changed a few years ago. May work for certain drives manufacted pre-Covid, but that’s it:
Been so long I had forgotten the freezer trick lol. Good memories haha.
Take it out of the Sabrent USB and directly connect it to the system, run lsblk to get the drive id and then check smartmontools using smartctl -H /dev/(whatever disk it is)
This will tell you if the drive is hosed or not.
If it is hosed, can always dead drop it from one banana worth of height on a table to see if the drive heads unlock, then try again.

Let the race to the bottom begin!

It’s dependent on your IP Address. So, if you login to Netflix with a device that registers a public IP in the EEUU, you get US content until that login on that device times out and requires you to login again.
So, take your laptop to the states and logon to netflix, it’ll stay EEUU bound for as long as that session is allowed, regardless of whether you return to MX again.

This happened to me and it was insanely annoying because so much content is ‘blocked in your country’.
The fix is easy though, just logout of netflix from all devices and log back in.

Here’s hoping Nvidia loses billions on its release. They deserve no less.

Unlike previous wifi versions, this version 8 focuses on signal strength, stability and reliability. So, it’s likely most non-wifi8 specific devices will benefit from it to some degree or another.

$500 drones will pawn 100% of these overpriced cyber trucks. Literally a waste of taxpayers money.

My family knows me as the anti-apple IT Guy. So, it shocked everyone when I brought home a Best Buy open box Apple TV 4K (saved me $20US).
Honestly, this is my first Apple purchase since my ipod and I have to admit: it’s good.
Roku has lost their way and my 3 Roku Ultra devices are all dying for reasons unknown (freezing, random reboots, spinning endlessly when trying to open an app). I’m just so done with them (and Nvidia) for my streaming hardware business.
Prove it or shut up.
CATL has in the past claimed, unsuccessfully:
CATL is a shit company. Period.
