  • To make it easy, start off with plugging your old laptop into external monitor. Install RDP, VNC, ssh, ftp depending on your OS. Install tailscale and join the network. Now with another computer, connect to that same network with tailscale and then you can connect and see your laptop screen with RDP. Or if you want VNC you can get a “dummy” hdmi adapter or try installing software for dummy monitor output. After that, use wired ethernet to plug old laptop in router, set to never turn off (recommend removing laptop battery beforehand) and there you go, you have your own personal server you can access anywhere including your phone! From there, look into self-hosting with apps like jellyfin, immich, etc. tons of great resources online.

  • My opinion is that doing all those things won’t magically fix the birthrate. Truth is that the more educated a country is, the lower its birthrate is. Countries like Korea and Japan have the lowest birthrate but also the highest literacy rate and most educated populations. While countries like Afghanistan and several African countries have high birthrate but also poor education levels and high infant mortality rates. More educated people realize that having kids sets them back from achieving their goals with the time and energy it takes to raise them. And the ROI isn’t even guaranteed because kids move away once their adults and aren’t necessarily going to take care of parents in their old age.

  • yeah not available on any torrent sites. I checked all of the major ones through Jackett and it returned no results. If you’re curious, the name of the movie is “Kulkarni Chaukatla Deshpande”. There’s a couple movies like that that are available on Amazon Prime India but not on torrent trackers.

  • yeah and we’re already seeing that with how now you need an account with your personal information just to use software. And everything is requiring a phone number and SMS verification to setup. I miss the days when all I needed to create an account on major sites was an email and password.

  • Even VPN isn’t enough. Ex. One time I wanted to watch a show that’s only available on Amazon Prime India according to justwatch. VPN isn’t enough because I’m using US-based Amazon account and I have to create an Amazon IN account per Amazon’s policies. And for that I need an India phone number for verification. So of course I don’t want to spend money on account setup especially since I don’t know if it’ll work. So I setup Azure VM based in India (in case they use location) but it still got stuck on the phone verification or puzzle loop so there’s nothing I can do unless I find a friend in India and use their account :(
