I like the concept of fascism as essentially militarised narcissism, although I think it risks oversimplification. There’s also the risk that we consider the two equivalent and start to empathise with fascists (a choice) similar to how we should with narcissists (a mental illness).

There’s similar risk in highlighting misogyny as a proto-bigotry, or template for bigotry. All we can say is that misogyny seems to be the most common irrational prejudice. Claiming others are add-ons or based upon it is not rigorous, and would suggest that misogyny is special in some way. In this way a hierarchy of bigotries begins to emerge, which is complete nonsense, except to examine their rate of occurrence. Precise language is extremely important on this point, else we appear to be saying misogyny is the “best” type of oppression.

I agree that narcissism has no brake, another parallel with fascism, and that is because both modes of thought are devoid of reasoning! However, there is the interesting phenomenon of the narcissistic collapse, where the narcissist can no longer maintain their self image and is forced to see themselves clearly.
