I love book recs, but I read that one twice and it didn’t help lol
I just turn on the fan now and keep the bedroom window closed :)
“Books were only one type of receptacle where we stored a lot of things we were afraid we might forget. There is nothing magical in them, at all. The magic is only in what books say, how they stitched the patches of the universe together into one garment for us.” Professor Faber

Omg, the mocking birds here are insane. I wake up early naturally, but those motherfuckers are SO LOUD they wake me up even earlier.

I agree with most of what you’ve been saying, but I’m going to gently push back on the Mustang EV. I think it’s one of the best looking EVs out there and it would be the one that I would choose (or the Subie EV because I love my Crosstrek). I do agree that it probably should not have been called a Mustang though because it doesn’t really look like one and there’s a whole culture thing behind the Mustang.
I would be thrilled if there was a manual shift EV. I know it doesn’t make sense and I don’t care if it doesn’t really do what combustion engines do, but I loved driving stick. I was sad to give up my old stick, but I went for the car with much higher safety ratings. It doesn’t even have to be real, just give me that feeling of driving manual would be great. And with a proper stick shifter too, not the silly paddle shifters.

I’ve been hanging around Lemmy more over the last few months, but I don’t recognize you. That’s ok though. I hope you keep posting!

Feelings mutual <3 lol

Mostly punk and punk adjacent music, but that’s all I really listen to anwyay
Green Day, NOFX, The Living End, that kind of stuff

Bikini Kills kicks ass
Right? I love hockey. I played field hockey in most of my school years and it was a lot of fun. Ice hockey is similar, it’s fast paced and exciting to watch.
I also enjoy catching other sports from time to time; rugby, football, soccer, basketball, and cricket. Even if I don’t understand all the rules, it’s fun watching folks play games with skill.
Yeah, usually his misogynistic comments like that are downvoted, sad to see that one is so highly upvoted 👎
That guy is one of the best example of toxic masculinity I’ve seen on lemmy. He’s swallowed the manosphere BS whole hog. It only takes a few minutes looking through his profile to understand why he’s single in his 40s.
I’ve run into him a few times before and he’s always like that. I gave him the below advice, he completely ignored me and continues to parrot that kind of misogynistic language.
I’ve noticed your complaints up and down this thread, I’ve also noticed them around the threadiverse for a while and I am beginning to see a pattern. You tend to be aggressively argumentative, denigrate women as a whole/complain about “woke”, refuse to see things from other people’s perspectives, and don’t listen to anyone’s advice. Have you ever heard the phrase “if everyone around you is an asshole, then maybe you’re the asshole”? Perhaps part of the issue is your behavior and attitude.

Now that’s an interesting one. I don’t get where people get this kind of stuff. Like, do you not pay any attention in science class? It’s some of the most basic of basic biology. But I was also the kid who used to read biology textbooks for fun lol

Yeah, like I said, she was a really sweet gal. She cared about people, her family, and coworkers. She was a hard worker and I enjoyed having her as a colleague. I really liked her, she just wasn’t very smart.

Captain Pike is a close second in my book. I adore his hair and he’s super fucking handsome!

Yes, I knew someone when I worked in retail who was quite dumb, she was a super sweet person though.
I realized how dumb she was when we encountered a mouse in the back stocking area. It crawled under the door and out to the back of the building. She turned to me and said “I heard the reason mice can crawl under doors like that is because they don’t have any bones”
Me being a biology major with a big interest in all things animals and insects that loves to educate people tried to correct her. I told her about how all mammals have bones and that mice were just very flexible to be able to fit under the gap in the door. I told her about how we used to dissect owl pellets when I was in 3rd grade and put the little skeletons back together. She did not believe me and still thought mice just don’t have bones.
I do sometimes wonder if she ever finished nursing school.

I didn’t, but I’m also a short haired woman who sometimes behaves the way she does and isn’t super girly.
I just thought she was the hottest person on the bridge of that starship, regardless of gender.

Apologies! You are very correct :)

Hi! Woman here and that guy is correct. Tracking your cycle on paper is far safer than any app ever could be. These apps are not safe for your personal data.
I’ve been tracking in my paper planner for the last few years and I haven’t had to worry about any of these apps or companies getting my data. I track PMS symptoms, start and end times, amount of flow, and more. I can take my planner to the doctor to discuss any issues that may come up.
Calendars, bullet journals, and graph paper are the best ways to track periods.
It really feels like this sometimes!
My lionhead bunny does not shed as much as my tiny polish bunny. Which doesn’t make any sense!

Yeah, I mean I do feel kind of bad because I’ve flown long enough to see how much smaller the space has gotten. But physical pain overrides any guilt I feel and I will recline the seat.
I sweat a fair amount at night. At this point in my life, I open the window, have a fan blowing air around the room, and sleep with minimal sheets and no clothes. I still end up sweating at some point in the night.
Mine is likely perimenopause related though.
