Yay, that’ll be a fun day at work… I’m in charge of administering our fleet of Macs and all the users use MS Office heavily. We are currently not allowed to provide access to Office 365 for data protection reasons, so if they brick the volume license we are currently using I won’t have a viable solution for them, beyond switching to OWA/Apple Mail and some other office suite.
The writing’s been on the wall for a while though. They recently made it so that you can’t hide the Office 365 nag screen while using a volume license, which confuses users into thinking they don’t have a license. I fucking hate Microslop.
Edit: As far as I can tell this will only affect users using a 2019 volume license (which is already not compatible with current versions), but the 2021 license will continue to work? (Source: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/update-microsoft-365-or-office-on-your-macos-or-ios-device-f418ae5d-bb5f-4078-b3d9-9340f5dd084e ). I’d definitely be interested if anyone has more information. In any case, I’m sure it’s just a matter of time until they fuck everyone not using a subscription based license for any of their products.
Edit 2: Nevermind. 13th October is the day Microslop has chosen to fuck me: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/system-requirements/end-of-support-for-office-2021

If it’s good enough one day, I might switch. But for now it’s unfortunately just not good enough. It’s a shame really, because I do appreciate FOSS, but if Jellyfin is to achieve mainstream adoption, they really need a decent client on what is probably one of the most mainstream platforms in the living room.

99% of my usage is on an Apple TV and the Jellyfin Apple TV client is just really bad. Last time I tried it didn’t even display “watched” markers and the UI looked terrible. None of the third party clients seemed decent either. The Plex client is much better (although I could do without the “suggested” sections).

imo the issue was that they weren’t transparent about it. They still do it now, but they tell you when they’re throttling the phone due to low battery health and give you the option to disable it if you choose. When they didn’t tell you, people would go out and buy a new phone, when a much cheaper battery replacement would have done the job too.
I remember playing shareware Doom (not enough storage for the full wad) on the nub of the 7650. Later I got the N70, then N73 and (I think) E65. Loads of pirated S60 and Java games on those bad boys. With a bit of tinkering you could even get N-Gage games running to play Tony Hawk 1. Good times.

This is definitely true for me. I have the controller and Frame on my wishlist. Bought the controller day one, but if I ever buy the Frame it will likely be years down the line. 100€ is in the price range I don’t have to think much about, but over 1000€ (I don’t believe they will be able to keep the promise of not making it more expensive than the Index) not so much.
The particular kind of loud narcissism people are describing in this thread isn’t particularly common amongst European christians in my experience and when it comes up it almost always seems to be USAmericans that complain about it. That leads me to believe it’s less about christianity and more just a different flavour of the typical selfish individualism that (to me looking in from the outside) seems to dominate American culture. So if you insist on painting a whole group of people with one brush, perhaps it’s Americans who need to get their fellow countrymen and women in line…

I might be misremembering, but I think in Double Dash you can even hold three items if you trail one of them.
Edit: I tested it. You can’t. You can’t drag items at all in Double Dash.

Yoshi Circuit and Baby Park come to mind. There are others too in both the base game and the DLC tracks.

Double Dash is great. It’s the first Mario Kart that got the drifting right imo. SNES and MK64’s controls feel really dated to me, but Double Dash still holds up.
Not a huge fan of the special character specific items, but being able to hold two items (and switch between them) is a really great mechanic.

I guess I got whooshed 🙈

A lunar eclipse is when the earth passes between the sun and the moon.

I have a really weird story related to this:
I was doing IT for an esports event, with 10 identical PCs on stage. Identical hardware, identical images, everything. One of them had much worse FPS than the rest. Okay, weird. Probably the player did something weird with their config.
My best guess is there was some kind of electrical interference manifesting in that one particular location. Never seen anything like it before or since…

If you go to the library and tell the librarian you are planning to shoot up your school and ask where you can find books to help with that, I bloody well hope they would report you. Because it sounds like that is basically the equivalent of what happened here. It’s not like someone using a library to privately access information and then using it in a harmful way. OpenAI apparently knew exactly what this person was doing on their platform and (allegedly) decided it was better for their bottom line to look the other way. At that point they have a clear moral obligation to act, imo.

I suggest building a parallel justice system for Peter Thiel. It will be powered by guillotines.

Oh no, not the free market!

I know. People already sell illegally imported cigarettes too, but I don’t think it’s nearly as problematic as the black market for other drugs is.
True. But Office for Mac uses the same installer for 365, 2021 and 2024 (and 2019 until they EOL’d it). It’s not that they stop updating old software. They just arbitrarily decide you no longer get the updates if you’re on an older license.
