  • Oh man, my family is Okinawan, and when we were visiting Aomori, this touristy market had an Okinawa fair going on and my kids went to go get a traditional Okinawan donut snack (we had been travelling for two weeks and they missed the taste of home), and when my kids thanked the staff in Okinawan, they looked really puzzled because I think they were just mainlanders selling Okinawan goods. I’m not even sure if they were even aware that we have a different language here. My kids looked really bummed.

  • This is stupid. We have Japanese chef in Japan who have Michelin Stars for all sorts of foreign cuisine. We also have Japanese chefs who make shit Japanese food. I knew a few in Canada. They only got away with charging more because they were Japanese, and therefore “authentic.” It really shouldn’t matter which side of an imaginary fence a chef was born in.

  • That’s really neat. Kinda conversely, I live in Okinawa, which you might know as the Japanese islands that was under US occupation after the war. Here our milk carton is not 1000ml like the rest of the country. We sell them in 946ml cartons because we used to package them according to American standards—1/4 gallon.

  • This is so true.

My PC I built has parts from as far as 12 yrs ago and day to day tasks go very smoothly especially since I switched to Linux. I haven’t bought a newly released game from a big publisher since Borderlands 3 and that ran fine. Most recent indie games still run well too.

I’m currently planning on upgrading with used parts from 2020 ish not because I need to, but because I’d like to play some games from 2010-2020 in medium-to-high graphic settings and hopefully make it last another decade.

Chasing AAA highest setting has always been an expensive hobby, but not it’s straight up luxury that only those with a lot of disposable income or make a living off gaming can afford. And honestly that’s fine because there are just so many good games out there that don’t require the specs.

  • OK. So how does that help with you knowing OP didn’t write it like that on purpose?

See all those upvotes OP is getting? It means people understood why he wrote “devastated” because they read the entire comment. I think your heart was in the right place, but in the end your concern was completely unwarranted. It’s a shame you got downvoted just for caring about OP’s wellbeing :(
