These cherry-picked examples have been weirdly strung together by the internet and then paid attention to by the administration for no apparent reason.

This is misleading, to say the least. Poor South Africans tend to be black, but there are numerically more wealthy black people than white people. Income inequality is a huge problem, and there are residuals of Apartheid, but that ended a full generation ago. A lot has happened since.
