Not particularly, it works great for what it does, but I much prefer the SRM approach. I don’t want to use a separate launcher for emulation when Steam is right there.

Honestly the only reason I’ve clung to Emudeck instead of Retrodeck is because it seems so heavily based on ES-DE which I don’t want to use whatsoever. Even their SRM support seems to require favoriting games in ES-DE.

Eh the password stealing shit definitely is but the special conditions for “israel” are hilarious (even if their code is borked and doesn’t actually work)

Honestly. I swear this is like the 5th one I’ve seen in three months

tbf the vast majority of that country support him and everything he stands for, so getting rid of one fascist won’t change much

It’s good to avoid in general for sure, but having a frontend available is pretty useful for viewing links and such or a small handful of accounts still in that cesspool.

Somehow I never made this connection. I may be stupid.
It’s incredible how they had almost 0 scalper protections in place here. Like I think the Deck required a 30 day old account at launch?

Oh interesting. I’ve been doing this with a dummy HDMI plug for ages, and sure don’t fix what isn’t broken, but it’d be nice to set it up entirely virtually.

Honestly same. I dabbled with Arch back in college but that was over a decade ago, and I just kept going back to Windows for everything but especially for gaming.
The deck was a bit of an eye-opener, I hadn’t kept up with linux news basically since I deleted that old Arch install, and I had no idea things were this good over here now. The deck convinced me to give a desktop distro another shot, and I’ve been daily driving CachyOS for over a year since.

Yeah at this point I don’t even consider them an option. They’ve been shit for ages.

One new release I’m not seeing in a lot of these articles that deserves a shoutout is Rubato. Just finished my first clear and I would legitimately put this on par with indie giants like Cave Story and Undertale, especially narratively. Phenomenal little game that deserves more recognition.
ErsatzTV is great for this, but it just entered maintenance mode and I don’t think any forks are currently continuing the work. Still, it’ll probably continue to work without issues for a long time.

My PS5 is just a Warframe box for the living room when I don’t feel like using my Deck, and I plan to essentially replace it with a Steam Machine down the road (sure I could just set up my own linux box there but the form factor is a huge motivator).
I think I use the thing for other games like once every few years. Death Stranding 2 is the only one I bought that comes to mind, Yotei was a gift. This isn’t going to encourage me to buy more of their games because this console is going in the closet soon enough.
what kind of dog is this
I mean, I use it myself but I also get why it’s not really mentioned here, being partially closed-source as well and subscription-based on top of that.

Yep exactly. There’s no backbone to these. It’s a weekend parade then back to brunch.

Am effective protest needs to be disruptive. What essentially amounts to a big weekend block party really doesn’t accomplish anything. Some of these events today had speakers thanking cops or platforming Zionists, like what are we even doing here
The only ones out there today really doing things that matter were the real leftists in the crowds trying to educate folks and trying to make them realize that no part of this administration is an anomaly to the imperialist state, they’re just louder about their fascism.
At the very, very least these events could take place in the middle of the week without prior approval from local police or w/e. Disruption is what makes a protest even the slightest bit effective, and a weekend parade doesn’t do that.
That’s a big part of why I wanted one. Sure I can just use a laptop or build a small PC (hardware prices today notwithstanding), but the form factor alone is enough of a motivator for me.
