What’s your point? They were engaged in a proxy war that suddenly escalated without much warning. I think it’s clear that I’m taking about the escalation when I say war.

I think there’s a little bit of conflation happening in terms of the demographics each of us is trying to talk about.

The conversations I’m talking about are pre-war, when there wasn’t even hint of the US or Israel attacking Iran. Some of these people are very new to my city at the time, they moved less than a year ago. They are currently devastated at what is happening to their home country.

The girls school was definitely bombed by the US and Israel. That is undeniable fact and anyone who wants to deny that cannot face the truth.

There is a lot of propaganda around this war, and around any war. But I do not appreciate you trying to invalidate the voices of people who were born and raised in that country, spent the vast majority of their lives there, still have family and friends there, and personally experienced the kind of hatred and violence that comes from a religious government. I don’t mean to attack you personally but you’re demonstrating a complete lack of recognition of the moral complexity. That the current Iranian government is terrible and has committed horrific crimes against its own people, but that does not justify foreign powers attempting a racist coup for their own benefit and spreading propaganda about it.

Anecdotal I know, but I’m friends with several Iranian people, good friends with some of them. Every one of them and their families has nothing but bad things to say about that government. They’re a horrible dictatorial power that completely suppresses women’s rights, religious freedoms, and bodily autonomy. They rule on fear and terror and are genuinely awful.

They are still supported by small groups of extreme religious conservatives who will threaten and call the police on any woman exercising autonomy because that is what they believe their imaginary space friend wants.

This is not propaganda when it comes from people, especially women, who’ve lived their whole lives in fear of this regime and couldn’t wait to get out. Could my knowledge be skewed by only having spoken to Iranian emigrants? Yes, sure. But the facts they’ve talked about are still true.

I mostly just hear negativity towards NFS Heat and Unbound, but I found both of them to be incredibly fun and engaging. Grab a friend and make stupid builds like offroad supercars or spongebob VWs. Or try to make actually good builds, either way they’re really fun games. On the other hand, I never enjoyed Forza.

I played both of them way way past release, and I felt like 2 was a really good, really fun gameplay experience. I would rate 2’s gameplay higher but 1’s story higher.

Well there was that brief period in time where everyone thought self lacing shoes were the future.

If you went to the next town over and had a coffee, no one knew who you were because you were in a phonebook. Your anonymity was intact. With these checks, any website anywhere will know exactly who you are.

I generally disagree with everything else you’re saying but something that hasn’t been called out is that The Indies was never used to refer to India, the country. In current day, there’s the West Indies, which are annoyingly next to North America. In the past, East Indies or ‘The Indies’ referred to the greater Indian peninsula, but not the country itself, and not West Indies. By using this example, you’ve highlighted a flaw in your argument that the term ‘America’ has to encapsulate North America and South America, as ‘The Indies’ doesn’t even encapsulate West Indies.

3 is a good example. Warning someone of imminent danger is a place where yelling at someone actually helps

Okay, tell me about one situation where yelling at someone achieves anything. I can’t remember the last time I yelled at anyone.

I also struggle to see why travelling out of the country is not allowed. Unless it’s some sort of really secretive and sensitive work, why can’t employees leave the country? Are we talking vacation? Time off?

Gen Z and I work in customer service. The average consumer has become such an entitled, idiotic, immature prick that you cannot reason with. Guess what age range these pricks tend to be?

If people are consistently breaking an internal rule, that means the rule should probably be looked at. I work with gen z, I manage gen z, they’re just people that society has kicked in the balls over and over and over again and their will to do anything has been eroded since they were conscious. Their primary social years cut off in the middle of a global pandemic. Maybe work with empathy and someone will want to work with you.

It’s like there’s never a good reason to yell at anyone, let alone a minimum wage service employee who’s barely scraping by.

Hey man if you’re going around yelling at service employees I think it’s clear who’s in the wrong.

I drive a 2024 VW GLI 6MT, bought it as the best bang-for-buck MT available new. Fantastic car all around. What I wish I drove is my dream 2-car garage.
