I think you might be missing an important part of GDP per capita, and be asking a slightly confusing set of questions as a result.
Per capita means per person. “GDP” and “GDP per capita” are each very different numbers.
GDP - tries to measure the total economic output of the country. It might be what you want to use to compare the raw economic might of two economies.
GDP per capita - This is just scaled by the population. You might use it to see if a small country like Monaco is punching above its weight.
Median GDP per capita - This third measure is what you might what to use to see how the average citizen in a country is doing. Ideally you’d want to also control for cost of living, but generally a bigger number here means higher quality of life for its citizens, even if the cost of living is also high.

Major damage to US corporate infrastructure seems more likely to have a real impact on the length of the war. Heart wrenching stories about humanitarian crises don’t seem to have that sort of impact. Even if they would, there are too many of these stories to draw sustained public interest in any single event or group of related events. Corporate involvement at least has a board who has to try to take action on behalf of investors. It wouldn’t be a romantic end, but it might be better than nothing.
Voyager for me. The compact mode is fairly compact, with small enough thumbnails that it can feel text-first. The few others that support piefed have had huge images with no easy way to fix that.

Hash is one of the many names for #. Twitter and other platforms allowed you to use hash to tag your posts with a searchable keyword. Hence “hash tag” which gets shortened to hashtag.
People on these platforms may have had cause to use and think about # on a much larger scale than would’ve been common at that time. Sure you may be asked to press pound on a phonecall once in a while, but that never happened often enough that I could fully keep it straight from star. It was usually just stored in my head as “the special phone key that isn’t star”
They also did a good job with Grace coming off as awkward in a quirky but believable way. Often a similar character is either full robot or like changed into the Fonz. Here he seems fairly sociable, but can’t really perform in front of the room, and doesn’t know what to do at the party. But one-on-one he’s at ease and has no trouble bonding.
It’s not book-accurate, but it seems like a more nuanced way to depict an awkward nerd than we usually get and I appreciated that.

Absolutely. Unfortunately, warnings of a candidate’s issues may not show up until after a primary. Digging up dirt requires resources, and those can be hard to come by until a candidate is considered serious.
At which point voters are locked into choosing between the two viable candidates (assuming first past the post, which I’d have to double check how much Maine fixed their voting).
