Basing it off the original Mario Kart is certainly… A choice. The stages being 100% flat is crazy when fun creative stages are the biggest reason people love kart racers.

Oh what I’d do for a dark souls 2 remake that actually fixes its problems…

It’s starting to drive me insane how many times they’ve teased this game without a proper release date. This trailer doesn’t give us much more than the one we saw last year.

I get that sex appeal is part of Stellar Blade’s thing but I would love this so much more without the anime girl with a massive ass and the camera zooming in on it every two seconds, because the game itself looks really solid.

Let me get this straight.
They brought 2pac back from the dead 30 years later…
To be in a Japanese game about Yakuza gangs…?
Aw man, I was hoping the second announcement would also be a classic hand-drawn game, but Cuphead’s gameplay was good enough that I would check out a pixelated version.

I haven’t played that yet, still waiting for it to release from early access.
Oh damn??? Looks like MMORPGs aren’t dead after all. I would have loved to see some gameplay but it’s nice knowing there’s an honest to god new mmo being made by a big studio.

Town of Salem 2, if anyone’s confused.
And honestly I’m impressed the game is still chugging along, I played it on release and the playerbase was dwindling hard.

only to learn I had just done the 3rd area
That’s rough, but the game does generally guide you to the right order. NPCs in the town lead you to the crypt, and the newspaper always points you to the next area. When you beat the crypt, it tells you to go to Nox’s Bayou, then Septemburg, etc.
The order is also listed in the in-game manual, but the game never really tells you it’s there…

Hard disagree, honestly. A lot of trinkets are very powerful and let you break the game which make great rewards for exploration and finishing side content. There are a lot of very powerful trinkets that by the end game you can have a vastly different builds, I don’t think they should be base abilities. Stacking trinkets is part of the fun.

The whip was my most used weapon in the game lol. The tip damage looks minor but it stacks up and manages to kill enemies with less hits, like an enemy that takes 3 hits would often take 2.
The whip works very much like the older Castlevania games, aside from positioning you can also jump, start attacking, then adjust your position in the air. You’ll still be attacking in the direction you started in.

Honestly kinda surprised that you disliked it, Orrery is one of my favorite areas and the black holes didn’t give me much trouble. The trinket you get from the race ghost made the platforming sections way easier for me.
As for the manor, it’s not my favorite area but I still enjoyed it. It gets hard, no doubt. Those moustraps hurt a lot, but I never found it annoying. In fact, I kinda liked the Hyrule castle-esque massive dungeon they had going on, it was a big culmination of all these different mechanics you went through.
I kinda get what you mean by the final boss though. He was alright but there are tons of better bosses. I’m still kinda surprised there would be people that didn’t like the Orrery though, it’s one of the most creative levels ever.

Which sections specifically? I didn’t have any issues with the orrery or the final dungeon. I’m guessing the autoscroller before the final boss?

This matches my thoughts as well, and I’m in the final dungeon of the game! Everything about the game is just brilliant. Dense is a good way of putting it, not only is the game as a whole really deep and full of secrets, the game is built to be INSANELY REPLAYABLE.
There’s New Game+, and there are modifiers that drastically change how the game works, including “weird” modifiers like one that lets you jump super high and break the game. A lot of these modifiers make you access areas you shouldn’t be able to early and that’s intentional. There’s also a built-in randomizer.
The achievements are also insanely deep if you are a psycho. There’s an achievement for beating the game with 3 hard modifiers, one for beating with 3 weird modifiers, one for beating it without ever entering the underlab, one for beating at -1% completion (not sure what that means yet but I’m guessing beating the game without picking up anything), one for beating the game in under 4 hours… And so on…
Most people won’t bother but it’s wild how much they thought about longevity. I’m excited to start my 2nd playthrough after 100%ing my current one.

A lot of the optional areas are very tough, and I agree they can be rough at the start of the game. Once you start having a lot of trinkets though, it gets marginally easier. Some trinkets even let you brute force harder platforming sections of the game - like one that lets you just tank lightning damage.
Many platforming sections do have yellow flowers though which let you heal up though. Be sure to keep those for when you’re low and not just pick them up when you’re full.

Pretty much. It is “Look, thing from Nintendo videogame!” the movie, but apparently from this thread it worked for a lot of people lol.

I’ve played around 7 hours since release, it’s really good! It’s literally Castlevania x Zelda, taking so much inspiration from both for its mechanics and themes. The art and music is just chef’s kiss. Everything about the game is full of charm.
Fair warning though, the game is pretty tough. Not “NES Castlevania” levels of hard, but you will die a lot. The game has a ton of modifiers that can make the game easier if you need them though. In fact, it has a ton of modifiers that can even make the game harder for challenge runs or wackier modifiers for future playthroughs. So cool. I’ll definitely be playing through again once I’m done with it.

I recently watched it too and really didn’t like it. The first movie had references but still tried to have a story, this one was just a mess imo. The animation was good at least but all the references felt superficial and had no weight.
Damn niiiice, I’ve also seen people run it on Android via FEX. It’s nice to see X86 to arm is becoming viable way faster than expected.
On a completely unrelated note, I quickly threw together Mina as a regular mouse earlier today. I had no context in which to post it so… Why not, here you go!
